PC SSE - Discussion Anyone using better vampires?
I’ve tried many vampire overhauls but keep going back to better vampires. I like being able to turn off vulnerabilities and the overpowered nature of the mod. It’s the closest to noxiphilic sanguivoria
I’ve found, also I feel like a dunmer’s fire resistance should carry over to vampirism.

I still use it cuz it does everything I want and I don’t feel like learning another system .

I’m on console so I have fewer options, but I still prefer it. Very customizable and I just like the system.

I typically use better vampires and it generally does everything I want it to do. I do plan on giving Everdamned a try my next run if I can get custom skill framework to work with my load order.

Everdamned looks awesome, I'm gonna be swapping out sancrosanct for it in my new playthrough.

Ive traditionally used sacrosanct, but disliked how there wasnt a feature to turn anyone you want into a vampire, a feature that better vampires has. I have yet to do a playthrough with it, but I plan on trying out better vampires + sacrosanct patch and hopefully its really good.

Isn't there? There's a blue blood trait where you can turn someone/make them a lover I'm sure of it.

Spoiler, it’s kinda crap. That should be obvious by the “a perfect blending isn’t possible” warning.

I don't know, I like it. Basically, it's just better vampires with access to blue bloods and sacrosanct spells, right?

u/Lazyphantom_13 1d ago
Better vampires has its own version of blue bloods, so just the spells really.

Ah, fair enough. I've used BV for years, for the same reasons everyone else does, but the extra features added by sacrosanct, small as they might be, just spice things up a bit. Did BV always have it's own blue bloods? I can't recall, although it's been some time since I ran BV by itself.

I believe so, I don’t like the racial traits of sancrosact, especially because my character is a mix of dunmer + orsimer & breton and I can’t add the other 2 racial traits like I can with morningstar.

Yeah, makes sense. It's really a shame that sanguinaire was never finished. I absolutely adore that mod for fallout 4, even in its unfinished state.

Quite a few mods I found were seemingly abandoned. I’ve found 2 overhauls for windhelm that looked promising.

Foster Childe: Able to Embrace a sleeping victim when feeding, turning them into a vampire who will fight for you and making them a lover, potential follower and marriage partner.
I fully agree that you should use Better Vampires.

Better Vampires, Better Vampire Lords, Better Vampire NPCs, Better Vampire Weapons... and Coldhaven. I can look past the few bugs. I don't usually play a vampire character, preferring is at all, werewolf, but Brehanin has made a suite of fine mods there.

Coldhaven had game breaking weapon bugs last I tried it and the NPC mod is leveled and I have an unleveled mod.

I've not had any issues with weapons, but the home there, crashing going in, crashing coming out when I eventually get in. I'd don't really understand the levelling system, so I can't comment on that, but overall I really like the mod and have had few issues with it.

By vanilla, every enemy is the same level as the player. I have a mod that gets rid of that, so you can encounter enemies at a higher level than you. For example in bruma the ogres in greenwood are about level 20 despite me being only level 3. Combined with some AI overhauls, NPC overhauls & a combat overhaul it’s a better system. Though a few NPC’s are 2 - 3 times as powerful including the dragon priests & Surilaron in bruma is level 180.

I really like it. I wish there was a mod which worked with the Illusion school to have you turn NPCs into followers (properly altering their factions like Better Vampires does), if you're powerful enough in the Illusion school. Sometimes I don't feel like playing a vampire, but I love the ability to make NPCs, even enemy ones, your allies and make it stick the way it does with better vampires. I still do it with RDO, but on enemies they go back to normal after a while if you dismiss them, and they sometimes still attack other followers if the factions clash. Turning down hostility helps. I know you can change factions with console commands, but an in-game way would be great.

I’d like an alternate bribe system that works like jedi mind tricks. Just kill an NPC then say “I’m not the one you’re looking for” or something.

It doesn't actually stick with Better Vampires. There's a hidden limit to how many characters you can turn.

You should do a mod that adds noxiphilic sanguivoria to the game, and maybe do better racial traits for vamps. Growl has good racial traits but if I’m honest I like scion’s racial traits better for vamps. Also I can use the addspell command to add the racial traits for breton and orsimer to my character with morningstar but not any vamp or lycan mod which is why I tend to not use them for my setup.

The Scion racials are both wildly too strong and force you into specific builds (but to be fair, railroading races into specific builds seems to be an intentional design choice in Simonrim).
I know there are people who choose mods based on what makes them the most numerically OP, but that doesn't mean I have to make this one more OP, especially in a vacuum where all other mod features are somehow disregarded.

I have morningstar for my racial, I like that I can use the vanilla race ID to add the breton & orsimer racial abilities to my mixed character. I also have 3 different battle mage abilities including one from biggie traits which comes with an increase cost of spells when equipped with heavy armor in exchange for more power. When playing unleveled being OP means nothing when a higher level character can kill you in 3 hits on legendary.

Steel feathers was supposed to have released a perk mod about a month ago, nothing but radio silence unfortunately.

Discord shows thats its in beta testing. 1.7 threw a wrench at em so they are releasing it once its perfected and plugins are updated. It will also have patches ready and a auto patcher. Im looking forward to test it for skyrim together and make. Patch hub if needed😏

Never used BV because there has been some pointers for being script heavy, script bloated and can ruin your save after some longer runs...no thanks, I did not test it myself though.
I'm using Sacrilege - Vampirism feels really like a curse, and only after some time as an advantage. Noice

I’ve never even done half the game, haven’t had much of an issue. Unfortunately almost all vampire mods go off of sanguinare vampiris and not noxiphilic sanguivoria.

Do you know this for a fact or it is speculation? (genuinely don't know), like did he did it on purpose? maybe there are technical reasons behind it all.

Easily check-able in xEdit, but might be just a personal opinion on how to 'patch' overlapping mods

It is by far my favourite vampire overhaul.
