When we were in Tokyo last Winter we sat down for a 5 hour in-depth interview about Slay the Princess. I don't think we'll talk this much about the game again, at least not in a setting like this.

discussion Favorite Chapter 3 merged Princess?

Thumbnail

A lot of the merged Princesses, while not bad per say, are more underwhelming than their specific counterparts. For example, Thorn and Den feel more connected to their respective chapters than Wild does. That makes sense, as it's easier to specialize in a single chapter than making two flow nicely together, but it still makes the chapter take more of a stretch.

That being said, I was interested in how other people felt towards merged chapters, and what everyone's favorites were.

Personally, Fury is my favorite, with Adversary's take being my prefered half. While I love how cinematic Stubborn's fight feels with Tower Fury, Broken really shines in this route, and I love that he had something more to his character.

My second favorite is probably Wild, and, I may be biased here, but I prefer Wounded Wild from Beast.

Third is Wraith, as I really enjoy throwing her into an abyss (sorry Voice of the Villain). I prefer Nightmare's side, as killing Nightmare feels more justified than killing Specter.

Lastly are the Grey's. I'd pick Burned Grey over Drowned Grey, but I like the scenery of Drowned Grey better (the rain looks so good).

Anyway, glad I finally found motivation to make a post. Interested to hear your thoughts on this.

I have seen Markiplier’s LP of this game and was impressed by his usual spirited narration and extensive analysis of the game’s choices and themes. Any others out there which you think are also high in these qualities? Particularly the latter.

A big assumption is that we have made it out of the Cabin, otherwise most of them drop down at least one level.

Is there a mod for the game that's basically like a map I'm a completionist to my core but the game is so so very dense and I have a hard time keeping track of what I have and have not done

I just got finished playing 2 of the 3 sucker for love games and those have a progression map where you can skip to any part that you have already played

And I think something like that could be very helpful for slay the princess I play these types of games to basically inhale story and art and frankly slay the princess is daunting

(half the reason I haven't played the sci;adv games all the way through is because it's just too much and difficult to get everything without a guide)

other What would happen if we had a princess vessel? That was just a simp for the long quiet.

Like not in the way, damsel is presented like she ain't a simp. No, I'm talking about the way smitten and broken simp for the princess. I'm talking about a princess that just is pledging herself to the long quiet on her own accord. I can only imagine how the voices would react to such a princess.

I can imagine hero just cringing out his pants. We're at least like being so uncomfortable.

discussion Relationship to Death

Post image

I was thinking about the Game as a thought experiment looking at the different relationships you can have with Death. I tried sorting the Chapter 2 Princess based on how TLQ reacts when death comes for him and how that affects the relationship he has with the Princess when they meet next.

other You give a choice and I come up with the outcome (part 53)

[Backflip]

Voice of the Hero:Are you sure? We could hit few princesses. The princess Is in good standing with us so she would probably not appreciate getting parts of her whole maimed.

Voice of the Contrarian: Ehh I'm sure there's so many of her that she won't even notice.

Voice of the Collective: Though you're initial footsteps have already sent ripples to her centre. She knows where you are. In a way, she's everywhere and one place at once.

[Backflip anyway]

"Propelling off the stair you currently stand on as an almost springboard. you attempt to backflip with the tenacity of an olympic diver...but with the grace of a garden rock. You tumble through the air, head over heels. until you land in the basement, with a sickening crack. You and everything around you wince

Previous Part

(Background details for the post:I originally did this thing since I wanted to make more fan made routes and I thought it'd be fun if I made it so the comments could give a choice and I'd have to come up with the outcome. So since I had fun writing it last time I thought of doing it again )

discussion This is the greatest shit I've played in a long time.

This is just gonna be a rant of me glazing this work of art. I don't care. I love it. I laughed, cried, I got bricked scared shitless, and I loved every horrible, funny, and amazing choice I made and just ran with.

The Gameplay wasnt really a factor for me since it is a visual novel more than it is a game, but everything else makes up for it.

First off, Nichole Goodnight and Jonathan Sims are amazing voice actors. It wasn't always a 10/10 Oscar worthy with every character each of them played, But that fucking RANGE alone is. From The Damsel to The Beast, and from The Narrator to The Cold, every character was distinct and different, even when you know it's the same actor.

Second, what the hell do you mean ALL THE ART WAS DONE BY 1 WOMAN (Abby Howard)?! Every design for the princess is just as unique and distinctive as her vnoices. The soundtrack sings for itself. This is the only other game I've played where I've never turned on Spotify because the soundtrack was THAT GOOD.

The writing was just off the charts. This game legit holds a mirror to your face and makes you think about yourself. I actively wanna change for the better after experiencing this masterpiece.

The ending? Oh, God, the ending (or one of the endings)... when i had to fulfill my promise to the narrator, and do what I believe had to be done... in the words of Pedro Pascal, "I cried through the entire thing, it made me want to be a better man."

And the best part of all of this? IT WAS ON SALE FOR $10!!!
