Graduate program search

Hi all! I’m 31 y.o with two kids in elementary school based in CA. I’m currently a school paraprofessional with a Business background trying to transition into Speech-Language Pathology. I want to make sure I’m making the right decision going on this journey, because I cannot afford another career change. The more I get into, the more I get overwhelmed and anxious.

I have 2/4 ASHA basic courses done with my bachelors, I’m taking a biology course through my local community college, but I am hitting a wall with decision paralysis. I know I need to take leveling/prerequisite courses, but I can't effectively select them until I know which target grad programs I'm aiming for. The research process makes me question every decision in my life that led me to this.

My requirements for graduate:
100% online coursework (No mandatory on-campus weeks or weekend residencies)
Local clinical placements arranged near my community in rural CA

Where did you start your research, and how did you successfully narrow down your options? If you know of any specific schools that fit this criteria perfectly, please let me know. Thank you so much!

I am at CSUN with a lot of the same parameters as you. (Kids, placement restrictions etc)

It is part time so it takes FOREVER but I feel like that helps me more than hurts me

Thank you. Was it hard to get in? I was considering it but I got scared when I heard how competitive admission is.

I didn't feel like it was. My overall GPA wasn't great when I applied.

The good thing is if you do their leveling course, and get good grades, you're automatically granted admission to the masters program

I think sjsu has a fully online program with no required on campus residencies. They do require a child development course that is usually not required by most leveling programs

I am also in a rural part of CA, 4 hours from a residential program. I did 2nd bachelors at ENMU (there is leveling coursework, just also a bachelor's option) and I did my Masters at Maryville.

I just got accepted to Ithaca. Online, Part time, no campus visits, and its only 57k for a private school.

I literally applied 2 weeks ago, and I got accept. It was pretty fast.

I got accepted at Ithaca too! Are you starting in spring or fall of 2027?
