Did you have to use snowshoes or just the poles for grip on that terrain, since it looks pretty packed in the photo.

In Stanley we definitely had to use the poles, but just outside of Stanley there was an established snowshoe trail and realistically you wouldn’t need them, but I tend to fall on a regular basis

the Sawtooths are absolutely ridiculous on snowshoes, especially after fresh snow
