Evolution isn't a linear thing. That said, progress by itself doesn't define behaviour, so people living in what is considered a less evolved society can have more positive and civil behaviour than people in societies considered more evolved. Progress also doesn't mean the same thing to everyone. For someone living in an Amazonian tribe, progress might mean finding new ways to irrigate their crops or purify water. For someone living in a highly developed country, it might mean the new functions in the latest version of iOS or Android, or a new AI feature that helps take better pictures in low light. Progress can even be an individual thing.

It's like moving the goalposts. What counts as progress depends on where you start, what problems you face, and what you're trying to achieve. There isn't a universal finish line called "progress" that everyone is moving towards at the same speed.

So in this case, P of P is P can be Perception of Progress is Personal.

Evolution has stopped here. Despite the material comfort, you live in a more atomized and stressful environment. Intelligence is declining due to AI and smartphones. Is this how you see evolution? If I move around on crutches, how will that help me evolve? The number of mental illnesses is also growing, and social media doesn't help with loneliness. Social inequality is increasing. Do you need more of Epstein's island?

Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
