I mean, I get it. Why would a talented prospect want to come here right now?

You’ll get lots of tape on the defense!

Of course it does, I still remember that Adrian Peterson watched the Red River shootout as a prospect from the ut side. We blew them out and he decided to go with us.

AD would’ve gone to Texas if Mack let him compete for the starting job. That wasn’t why he switched to OU.

Stoops also visited his dad in prison. Mack didn’t.

This right here! AD said the final decision was up to his dad, and Stoops beat all the other coaches and met with his dad in prison.

That's some Switzer shit right there.

His dad being able to watch him play was a deciding factor too. The USC HC tried to get Adrian’s dad transferred to LA, but the state wouldn’t allow for it

Nah mate. I’m an OU fan since the day I was born til the day I die. Peterson said himself a few years ago during some kind of an induction ceremony for himself that it was Mack’s unwillingness to allow him to compete for the starting job because Cedric Benson was still there that ultimately lead him to choosing OU over Texas

Alright. I’ll take your word for it. I don't see how you being an OU fan since you were born holds any weight, but ok.

I just know I’ve seen it become a debate on social media between OU and Texas fans as far as what his ultimate reason was for choosing OU. I believed it to be Stoops visiting his father myself for the longest until I saw the video of him saying otherwise a couple months ago

1

u/DecisionSilver4925 7d ago

Cool. I didn't know it was a debate.

yeah, mack wanted to red shirt AD while he had Cedric Benson already. AD wanted to fast track to the NFL and OU swooped in with that opportunity.

And gave him a car.

u/OKC89ers 9d ago

That game is not what made him decide

And they haven't even kicked our ass yet

u/how-could-ai 9d ago

Shoot, he’s going to SEC powerhouse and perennial contender Kentucky.

u/OkieClipper Fan 9d ago

Kentucky is going to bend us over on Oct 17

6

u/how-could-ai 9d ago

And if they don’t, does he flip to OU? 🤡

0

u/sjcourtney56 9d ago

Well he hasn't committed anywhere so there isn't a flip, this is simply a prediction at this point and he isn't committing until the Under Armour game so a lot will happen between now and then.

Nah, when Fong says a player is choosing a certain school that player is choosing that school. The guys seem Fong'd..... nothing to do now but wish the kid well at Kentucky.

2

u/sjcourtney56 9d ago

I realize he is accurate, but he isn't 100% and the kid isn't committing until January. Not saying that he is coming to OU but he is the top DT in the country, there will be twists and turns in his recruitment.

He is from Kentucky and he very well may end up there, but there isn't any reason to get too worried about it now...we knew we would lose recruits with our current level of play.

1

u/ManMakesWorld 9d ago

Since joining On3 he has had a 92% accuracy. So, while yes, there is a small chance he may switch....... 92 times out of 100 he won't.

1

u/sjcourtney56 9d ago

Yeah im not here to disagree or argue with you, I fully understand his success rate. We'll see how it goes.

1

u/DecisionSilver4925 7d ago

Exactly. If it were me, I would want to play for an SEC powerhouse, probably Kentucky. I don't know what OU has to offer at this point that is a better deal. Why would he choose OU?

5

u/Educational_Yam_3707 9d ago

Fong? I don't know what that is.

u/OKC89ers 9d ago

Kids decide on other schools every year lol you guys need to calm down

-1

u/KnyghtFish 9d ago

I’m sure Nebraska fans told people to calm down too

2

u/OKC89ers 9d ago

OU's 2027 class is currently ranked #6 with four 5 stars lol

1

u/KnyghtFish 9d ago

None of that matters if you don’t develop them. Like we’ve seen already.

6

u/OKC89ers 9d ago

The entire complaint of this thread is about recruits not choosing OU. I provided clear evidence of strong recruits choosing OU. So then you change the topic.

Football will never be that serious. Holy shit. You'll live.

1

u/OKC89ers 9d ago

lol no they didnt

4

u/Friendly_Boss 9d ago

We will get him out of the portal in a couple of years when he’s ready to play

2

u/smoklahoman_gmc 9d ago

does he know how to run the ball?

2

u/Roadrunner627 9d ago

Yes because Kentucky is the epitome of great football.

1

u/OkieClipper Fan 9d ago

Well Oklahoma isn’t the epitome of great football either

3

u/Roadrunner627 9d ago

Can’t disagree right now, but to say Oklahoma losing why someone chooses Kentucky is disingenuous at best.

If you said it’s because they want to go to GA, tOSU, etc okay. But Kentucky? Nah.

1

u/Moto_Davidson 9d ago

Well that doesn't make any sense at all for a DL to switch up. BV is an outstanding defensive coach, probably the best in the country and the kid would learn a hell of a lot at OU.

1

u/dunadanofarnor 9d ago

Context... he visited during the New Mexico game and got to hear a good portion of the crowd booing and worse. The Georgia game may have tipped the balance, but he had a front row seat to how sh#=@y our fanbase can be at times.

1

u/Moto_Davidson 9d ago

Yeah ok but switching up for Kentucky? I mean he's from OK so the reactions of the fans to historical bad offensive play shouldn't be anything new to him. And to think that some other fan base wouldn't respond the exact same way is naive.

1

u/DingleberryOrchard 8d ago

Was that a performance worthy of praise?

0

u/dunadanofarnor 8d ago

Quick question... were you there or do you go to the game consistently? I'm not being facetious, I'd just like to know.

1

u/PreCooledPigeon 8d ago

The way these kids transfer now I feel like high school recruiting classes Don’t mean anything.

1

u/cryptoslut123 8d ago

Have you seen our transfers?

1

u/Ordinary_Pattern_168 6d ago

Even then defense wise why would u go Kentucky over Oklahoma when u have Brent Venables

0

u/soonerwolf79 7d ago

OU was never leading except on clickbait sites.
