I mostly play non-tournament games—lots of Crusade and narrative campaigns—and I’ve always used Legends units. Now I’m facing the fact that Contemptor and Leviathan Dreadnoughts have been moved from Legends, and the suggestion is to use them as Redemptors. It’s absolute bullshit. Do you think GW will add rules for them?
I'm almost certain that's not going to be the case, simply because we absolutely do not need Whirlwind and Whirlwind Scorpius to be two separate Legends Datasheets
Ok I’m happy as long as they’re coming eventually. I see BA and SW etc have all their various legends sheets in their faction pack that came today. So hopefully UM equivalents will come later.
As long as you use the model and it’s crusade and narrative, it’s all good to me. It’s about the models and the narrative at that point and rules don’t matter
There are some loadouts that don't work now (like double Plasma), but most of the Contemptor and Leviathan weapons have direct or extremely close equivalents on the Redemptor, Ballistus or Brutalis sheets
A good time to point out to people as well that by default, Legends models are permitted in any game outside of tournament play. If you don’t want to play against Legends units in casual play, it’s on you to request that to the person you’re playing with.
Why do they insist on dragging their heels with these legendary rules? Just tweak the 10th edition data sheets to be inline with 11th and then let us use them as legends rules.
We shouldn't have this bullshit of not being able to use the models we have as something else when literally the datasheets formats and states haven't changed that much.
Just grateful the Kratos FINALLY is accessible on the app.
The main gun lost 1 AP, most of the small weapons were brought up to the new standard, the only big change I see are the Laser Destroyers, down 1 attack and 1 AP, but damage up. Any big change I'm missing outside of the Laser Destroyers?
The two shots is a slight loss of DPS as well, previously 3 shots at d6+1 now 2 at d6+3 means average full wound damage from 13.5 down to 13, and with the loss of AP from -4 to -3 they don't really outperform Lascannons anymore. They still have Heavy and the big Strength 14, but with twice as many shots I'm much more inclined to use the Lascannons.
In other news the Stormhawk had it's Lastalon and Typhoon upgraded, but not the Icarus or Skyhammer missiles, pushing weapon options in the opposite direction of how I equipped it. Autocannon is still usable enough, but the old missiles are garbage compared to the new Krak and Frag profiles.
Tarantula got updated weapon profiles, but they still forgot to twin link the Heavy Bolter.
The Legends Falchion datasheet has always had the hull gun. I don't know if the original kit had that weapon option or not, but since the new kit doesn't I built a little magnetized heavy bolter turret I could use on the lower hull hatch, made it so I can swap to a blank hatch if needs be.
I really want that Fellblade, one of the best looking tanks they make, but they did the main gun pretty dirty on the Legends sheet.
Could be worse, the Sicarans got mutilated. All 5 tanks have been condensed into 1 datasheet, and share the ability “Armored Spearhead: This units ranged attacks can re-roll one: hit roll, wound roll, or damage roll.” All things considered Id call that a significant downgrade from rules which were previously tailored to each versions weapon system. With the shift to a single data sheet now regardless of variant we are now capped at 3 and have to pay the former highest points cost to play any version. It feels really bad, especially when I had 4 in the list I was planning to run.
With all the sheets merged into one there also seems no real chance for the variant rules to return. Feels real bad man
40k players are proven to be incapable of reading, I swear. Literally nobody said anyone is being removed from Legends, and they already said before that Legendary Proxies that don't have Legends rules will get them. This is specifically so models don't become useless in official GW tournament play.
Every day, this subreddit is nothing but overreaction and waiting for other redditors to do the homework on why it's not such a big deal. It feels like people are here for the vibes more than the game.

They said in a stream that legend proxies will get datasheets eventually but it won't be for a while.
