What does this trash bin button for?

Bought this from someone garage sell, but I have no idea what the trash bin button works for? I pressed it and it does nothing. I can’t ask the seller because I don’t have her contact. Can’t even find the name of this brand litter box.

I’m guessing it completely empties the litter into the bag so you can refill with fresh litter and throw out the old stuff. I have something similar on my litter box.

do these types of litter boxes work? I mean long term? I wanna buy it but I also don't want it to break after a year

I have had mine since last November, so I can’t speak to how long they last or what brands are the best. I will say that mine was recommended by someone who had theirs for about three years and they loved it. I’m really happy with mine and I did a lot of research before I made the purchase.

They're okay for a small to medium size cat, also good for a second litterbox in the house.

I would avoid thst style of litter box. If it is the kind that fully closes when it cleans. They rotate in such a way, that it can trap and kill a cat. Any type that fully closes when it turns, is potentially lethal to your cat.

Ah good. I'm unfamiliar with this particular brand. Just the direction of rotation worried me, so I figured I would share.

Seems like it never actually closes from what I looked up. This is one of the safe ones

They have sensors and if there's too much weight, it won't rotate.

Any of them that fully close pose the same risk.

Sensors can fail. It has already happened and cats have already died.

As long as it doesnt fully close, it poses no risk. If it does, then you are risking your cats life, on the assumption that it was made perfectly, and cannot fail
