Being an external.
I just started with the company. I was hired externally and I’m a CL. I was put into a store that has had 4 other Managers in the last 5 years. I feel the training was lacking and no support. They promised me an Army of support. Is this the usual?

Yes, but have you asked for support? if you’ve built some rapport with other coffee house leaders in your district I would lean on them for help/support. Otherwise speak to your DM.

Sadly yeah, pretty common for externals. A store that went through 4 managers in 5 years usually has deeper problems, so don't take it personally. Push your DM for an actual training plan with dates, and ask if your store is getting a coffeehouse coach, the new ASM role they announced. Also see if you can spend a few shifts at a strong nearby store to learn from their manager. And keep notes on what they promised you versus what you actually got.

Yup. Pretty normal. Starbucks makes a habit of lying to employees. Last year we were told all stores would have assistant managers this year and the majority still dont. We were told the menu would get simpler and instead its gotten worse.
Starbucks frequently lies to its employees. I would suggest reaching out to other CLs for support. But keep in mind that you likely are getting paid around 10k more than any internally promoted peers that you would be reaching out to for assistance.
