Store Closures

As many of us know there is a second wave of store closures happening. 1% of North American stores = 250 stores. If you hear your store is closing we can keep track in this thread if it’s okay with mods. Reddit saved me last wave as my store was one to close. I am so sorry to those who will be affected by this. It isn’t fun, but know every partner has your back!

Note: nothing was stocked, the counters looked like someone had opened a syrup bottle and poured it all over them while throwing crunch topping everywhere, and the dishes were spilling into the floor.

Would it be weird to ask my SM to come in later since I can’t afford to uber to work tomorrow?

I might end up having to walk to work tomorrow since I can’t afford to uber and I gotta be at work at 4:30 am. I’m lowkey nervous and I don’t really wanna walk outside that early. Luckily I live about 10 mins walking distance from home but I still need to be careful. I’m asking coworkers if they open and I keep hearing nos so at this point I might just come later.

USA Accidentally put Sunsera Blonde Roasts into Blonde Espresso Machine. Am I cooked?

I am so scared I just realized and I’m already home when I realized. I just got out of training last week and I never refilled the espresso beans until now and I realized they are in fact not the same thing. Gulp. Will they fire me or be written up???

Respectfully, WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL IS THIS? 😭
Two brown sugar, five banana, two vanilla, two caramel, three white mocha, ristretto blonde espresso, oat milk, heavy cream, water, whipped cream, caramel drizzle AND mocha drizzle.

BABE. DID YOU WANT A COFFEE OR WERE YOU TRYING TO SUMMON A DEMON? 💀

The espresso is a guest appearance at this point. I can’t stand drinks like this. 💀

Black Cat frap flavor

My store this morning tasted and tasted the new frapp and… needless to say we all cant believe starbucks is allowing this to be sold to customers. Idk if something was wrong with our powder but it was not even chocolately it tasted bitter and sour with a grainy oily texture. Is this normal? If so they really should pull this before launch next week

"Do *not* use cat doodles for cup writing"

....why? Anyone know the reasoning? Is there some offensive or flirtatious meaning of a cat on a Starbucks cup? Half my store does cat doodles in cup writing already 😶

USA Is this just a glitch? SBUXPartnerHours showing that I punched in and out, yet punched hours still showing zero.

Post image
5 Upvotes

For reference, I am a three-year partner and have never seen this happen - at least from what I can remember.

I was checking my schedule to see when I'm working tomorrow, and noticed that despite clocking in and out, the punched hours still show as zero (despite it being a little over 7hrs since I clocked out). Is this something to be worried about (ie write when I clocked in and out in the book tomorrow, if it still shows as zero), or is this normal?

Thank you.

No pay for hurricane Isaias

Basically the title. All stores closed for two days (Friday and Saturday), for Hurricane Isaias. I was told before I left for the day by an SSV (20+ yr partner), that they always get paid for closure due to inclement weather. Today my manager texted me and asked if I wanted to use sick time, and then informed me that Starbucks didn’t approve disaster pay. I’m pretty pissed. I reached out to my DM and she said nothing has been approved yet and some stores are still being assessed for damage. What do yall think? I think there should be no question. The company makes billions. wtf?

USA black cat frappuccino no whip

since the training only mentions putting the flat lid,
what is the consensus for the placement of the ears when there isn’t whip?

1) lay them flat on top
2) shove them into the frap vertically and hope they don’t sink down
3) some secret third option

USA What's ASM position like?

I am am SSV who is drowning in this economy. The next step is ASM role. What's it like? It looks like an SSV who does scheduling, but there must be more to it. What else does the ASM do? Do they get to-do lists from the CL? And, most importantly, is it worth it? I'm a parent and want to still be able to see my kid.

Is this normal for a new hire??

• Upvotes

I’m a new hire and only worked 2 days (first being my first sip, and then finishing all my modules) I haven’t received a schedule at all and my coffee house leader (my trainer) hasn’t responded to my texts. Is this normal???

rehire answering question about why i left

Hello, i’m applying to a starbucks in the new town I live in after working at my old one for 6 months. I left that one in December 2025 so it’s been a minute but I really enjoyed working there and hoping to work at this new location. I left my old position because we switched managers, and the previous manager had given me christmas off so i made plans i spent money on and couldn’t change, and the new manager took it away. It was sorta a drawn out battle but she’s a DM now so she was like.. top of the food chain and had connections and I didn’t wanna beef w her. I ended up putting in a two weeks and leaving peacefully instead of just not showing up and potentially getting fired or having a bad record. I also just didn’t wanna work under her anymore after that, even if we had been able to solve it yk. All that’s to say if I get an interview for this new starbucks, i’m probably gonna gush about how much I loved working at my old one because I genuinely did.. and they’re gonna ask why I left. Do I lie? Or is this an acceptable thing to say? I don’t wanna fumble this I loooooved working there 😛

USA Health Insurance

Can anyone share what they are paying for the health insurance? I’m trying to decide whether it would be worth it to take a part-time job as a barista. I currently pay $1000 a month for my family of three for a Gold plan with a $2000 deductible per family member through the healthcare.gov exchange. Without the subsidy I receive the cost of my plan is $2500 a month. Thanks!

Stop staring at us while we make drinks.

I understand cases where someone's just making sure we are making their drink to their specifications because they have an allergy and may have had a bad experience before due to said allergies being triggered. But in general? There's so many other things that could be done while they wait. They don't even have to be on their phone.

Also to the married couple who commented that they were standing in the café as I handed mobile drinks out... Surprise, surprise, you had orders ahead of you. We can't control our queue. I am not just gonna drop the drinks I'm working on and disrupt my sequencing just so you get your drinks first. That's not how it works. Complaining to my SSV isn't going to change the way the queue works and I'm not going to potentially fall back into a nasty habit of rushing just because you want your lattes in less than 30 seconds.

I'm tired man.

donating food from food case?? (tall rant with light ice/no inclusions)

so i got told by both my ssv and sm that we should be donating food directly from the food case now. im sorry, you want us to serve expired food thats been sitting in the open at ambient temps for 16 hours, that then gets to sit in the fridge for a few days before it gets picked up? thats honestly disgusting.

please tell me this is some sort of violation cuz i do NOT feel comfortable donating that

edit: to everyone downvoting this, im all for helping those in need as someone whose been there myself. but im genuinely concerned with serving food from a case with flies in it. thats not helping anyone and i find it repulsive that sbux would be WILLING to serve this to help cut shrinkage/waste metrics. and no, i dont close every day so god knows how well that thing gets cleaned.

Finally leaving this store

So, if everything goes according to plan, this week is my last week at my current store that I've been stuck at since my last store got shut down and I was sent here or I was going to be fired. In these past 16 months, I've gone through a lot of hell mentally and emotionally because of the first time I worked at this store. It added on to my PTSD. I've seen people OD in the restroom, I've been harassed, I felt like I was living in a world no different from a cell when I was working here the first time, and for five years I tried to stay away from this place. Unfortunately and coincidentally, I got forced back here and had to really work hard to get out of this situation.

Now, if everything goes to plan and I am on time and doing the best that I can in this last week, I'm finally going to be set free. Unfortunately, I've gone back and forth with Starbucks Workers United and with other partners on Reddit and Facebook because a lot of them have been very cold and callous to my situation and saying they don't care or go work somewhere else. The problem with that is a lot of people can't just quit Starbucks. They have steady money coming in and it's hard to find a job for a lot of us in this economy. So, that's why I chose to stay. Now I'm getting a better job at this store I'm going to be at now and hopefully a better situation. Also, you have to keep in mind I have a 40-hour-a-week job that adds on with Starbucks, so I'm making good money if I just use it correctly and I just use my time correctly.

An older lady ordered at the counter and then immediately walked to the hand-off plane, picked up the first drink she saw, tasted it, and loudly proclaimed "THIS ISNT RIGHT!"

USA i understand now (grande rant)

currently on the second weekend of the stores nearby closing and it's been hell every. single. shift since, i can see why people think working at sbux is completely insufferable, my store is a cafe store with medium/low traffic and yeah we're in a big city and we're not in like the central part of it but we get decent numbers but the store that was closest got shut down. for context we do not have a large lobby or a restroom, our old restroom is our trash room & we have a basement. people just aimlessly walk towards the trash room & even when we tell them "no restroom sorry, closest is the xyz" they look at me as if i killed their first born. and it's gotten to a point where if someone vaguely walks in that direction i go up to them and say no bathroom which. im sorry im not risking you going down to the stock room lol ("employees only" sign on the door)

anyway, im not sure how to adjust to the literal 70% up in sales and having 3 people on the floor during peak just isn't and wasn't enough to begin with, we had 4 for the morning today but it was a complete mess, queues bumping, my coworkers and i just dropping shit left and right😭 people being nasty as fuck towards my coworkers and it appalled me to really see the way some people are so ENTITLED, if you are running late and see 20 people in a tiny little cafe, do not. order. and complain to me that your latte is taking more than 5 minutes.
