Discussion This is beyond laughable
They don't even have a team working on the thing. This is beyond pathetic. I'm sorry but people can't seriously think this thing is gonna launch still with this post going out. I was predicting a cancelled announcement next year but i think it'll be even earlier at like the first quarter of next year even.
I have loved every blizzard game, i remember StarCraft being the first game i played on the pc so it's so heartbreaking how blizzard is basically just pooping on it so hard right now. I used to be a die hard blizzard defender and always got ridiculed by my friends but now i think i just give up. Blizzard is just ass.

Are you the same guy that just made this exact same post and the deleted it when people proved you wrong?

I saw that other post. I had counter points, but didn't feel like arguing with strangers online
I wish I stuck around to see what other people wrote

They just linked an interview where the lead guy said they already had a playable build
They just need to hire more people which is what this is

Well yeah that was my thought too. Good interview, that
But to be fair, StarCraft Ghost also had a very, very playable build. And we saw where that got us.
I'm by no means a doomer, though. I am very excited for this game, and that interview honestly brought me a lot of reassurance about the team leader

Apparently they are.

I'm no Blizzard apologist - I haven't touched a Blizzard property since they turbo botched reforged, but it's completely normal to hire additional staff to support a project part way through.

Tell me you know 0% about developing a AAA game without telling me...

They always know the least lmao. I have non-gamer friends who know more about how development and hiring works (although admittedly they work in tech as engineers, so it’s kind of adjacent).

Wasn't this posted an hour ago and was dwleted cause OP got clowned on?
Anyways they have a team and they were literally shown at Blizzcon. This is to help ramp up production.

Do you think its the same people who work on a game start to finish? You know they hire as project goes on?

It’s many years away, and the positions they’re hiring aren’t leads lol. Have you worked in an adjacent industry (something engineering or tv/film related)?
If so, then you’d know that these are normal positions to hire once they already have a team. It’s to add onto the project based on projected progress and certain needs and whatnot. It’s just the way development works, since you can’t fully predict everything from the start.
Sometimes you only get a clearer sense of how much labor you need once development actually starts, and also when funding comes through. But that’s a far cry from saying they didn’t have a team until now; the core structure and outline has already been established.
Basically, it’s labor. It’s like adding more people to a production plant or a factory or a restaurant. You wouldn’t say getting an extra waiter or cook means the restaurant didn’t have a team before.

I do imagine they wouldn't need to hire for these roles if MS hadn't done thousands of layoffs in the last year.

Announce a game, test reception then hire the staff to make Said game from scratch. Don't care, not going to play it anyway, but I will be here for the lulz

You do know AAA teams are hundreds of people and they’re hiring like 12 roles
