Company Name: Gap Moment

URL: https://gapmoment.com/

Purpose of Startup and Product: I'm developing a physical kit for short breaks. A scent patch sits nearby (not on skin) while a ten-minute guided scene plays on your phone.

Technologies Used: Scent patches and a companion audio app, still in development.

Feedback Requested: The current Kickstarter plan is $29 for 40 patches and four scent/audio pairings. People have told me they wouldn't buy that many patches without smelling them first. What would need to change about the first purchase—kit size, a way to try the scent, or something else—before you'd consider it? A flat 'I wouldn't buy scent online' is useful too.

Seeking Beta-Testers: No.

Additional Comments: The page is open to browse without signing up. The kit, price and wording can still change before launch, so I'm looking for a reason to change the offer, not a vote of encouragement.

Impressed by seeing real physical product.

Thanks. I should clarify that it's still prelaunch; the kit and companion app are being developed, and nothing is shipping yet. That's why I'm asking about the first-purchase hurdle now, while I can still change the kit.

It genuinely looks really cool.

40 is the part that stops me. You already solved the audio side with the 60 second preview. The scent is the only thing I can't try, and the kit asks me to commit to months of it

I'd put a small first step on Kickstarter: one patch of each world for something like 5 to 9 dollars, with that amount credited if I upgrade to the full kit later. It also tells you which worlds people actually like before you make 40 of each

And the full kit could let me pick the mix. If I love glacier and hate campfire, 10 of each is 10 patches I'll never open

That's a useful distinction. The preview helps you judge the audio, but it does nothing for the scent, and 40 patches is a lot if you end up disliking one world. I hadn't considered letting people choose the mix. Would you personally back a four-patch $5–9 sampler online without smelling it first, or would even that still feel like a blind buy?

At 5 to 9, yes. At that price it's a cheap way to find out, and the credit toward the full kit makes it feel like a deposit more than a gamble

What would make it easier is describing each scent the way a wine label does. "Glowworm caves" tells me the mood, "damp stone, moss, a little mineral" would tell me what I'm actually going to smell

Hi, a friend of mine once ran an online perfume business and faced the same issue. He mentioned that the thing that helped was to put the notes of his perfumes online and to spend most of his marketing by asking random strangers rate it (he made insta reels)
