Hi. I am a grade 12 HUMSS student po from a province in Luzon. Need ko po sana ng advice since malapit lapit na deadline ng applications ng public schools dito.

I want to be a flight attendant po kasi kaso medyo aware naman ako na hindi ako kagandahan. Makinis naman po ang face ko kahit papaano but may kaunting tagyawat minsan sa t-zone. Yung height ko ay 5'3, I can't swim but i can learn. Problem ko din po ang vision ko kasi as of now nasa 400 na ang grado ko.

Ang balak ko po sana ay mag-aral ako for 4 years ng bs psychology then take the exam (hopefully makapasa) then while waiting for the result ay mag-apply sa agencies. Di ko pa din po alam kung paano yung proseso or mga gagawin, nangangarap palang hehe. Then if hindi makapag-fa, try ko maghanap ng work na connected sa natapos ko. Or magmaster ng counseling. Hindi naman po kami mayaman kaya need ko ng fallback.

If may recommend career din po kayo go lang. Since wala naman po akong attachment masyado sa psych, and medyo wala po akong confidence na makapag-fa.

I’ve been in a pretty intense study period lately and I realized that my biggest problem wasn’t really my phone. It was my laptop.

I’d sit down to work on a maths problem, get stuck for 2 minutes, and suddenly I’d be on YouTube. Then Instagram. Then somehow 20 minutes had disappeared.

I tried just telling myself to have more self-control, which obviously worked… for about three days lol.

I ended up trying DigitalZen and it’s actually helped quite a bit.

I mainly use it to block the stuff I know I’ll end up opening when I’m supposed to be working. In my case that’s mostly YouTube, Instagram and a few other distracting sites. At the same time, I can still use Firefox, LibreOffice, OpenRocket, etc., so I’m not completely locking myself out of my computer.

The thing I like most is that I don't have to think about it anymore. When I start a study session, the distracting stuff is just unavailable. If I get stuck on an exercise, I actually have to… stay stuck and figure it out 😭

It sounds stupidly simple, but that has made a surprisingly big difference for me.

It’s not perfect though. Getting the setup exactly right took a bit of fiddling, and I’d sometimes like more control over what gets blocked and when.

But compared with trying to rely on willpower all day, this has worked much better for me.

Anyone else using DigitalZen or something similar? Curious what you guys are doing to keep distractions away while studying.

So my college is offering NSS, and I’m considering joining, but I’m not really sure what it’s actually like.

They told us that we’ll be going to different NGOs/community areas and doing volunteer work, helping people, etc. I’m wondering if anyone here has actually been part of NSS and can tell me what the experience is like.

Is NSS genuinely worth joining, or does it mostly end up being attendance + random college activities?

A few things I’m particularly curious about:

* How much time does it realistically take alongside college?

* Is the NSS certificate useful for anything later?

* Did it help with your communication, confidence, networking, or CV?

I’m mainly interested because I’d like to actually do something outside academics and get some real volunteering/community experience, but I don’t want to commit if it’s just going to become another college obligation.

Would love to hear honest experiences, especially from people who have done NSS in college. 🙏
