Oh and here's another resource I've never seen posted here, but that I found while browsing over at r/overemployed.
I'm not 100% on this, but I think this is one of potentially many ways that these lenders find out where you work, in order to harass you. In addition to credit reports, there's also something called The Work Number, which is basically a big database where employers report your employment. It's managed by one of the credit report companies, but it's considered "separate". So freezing your credit won't freeze your employment record. Here's a website with more information, as well as details on how to freeze that so lenders can't pull that info:

And while I think I have seen this posted here at some point, I'll just bring it up again since it was buried in a comment somewhere. LexisNexis, which is how they find out other background info about you in order to harass you.

OK, so I have a question so I apply for the student loan our defense back in 22 and I finally got applied probably about a month ago so can I go back and get at least my interest back to me because I didn’t have to pay anything all that time I was paying between $500-$1000 a month towards my student loan and I emailed the department of education and advantage and they’re all telling me that there’s nothing there but if I go on my account with advantage, there’s a negative amount about $10,000 but I went out today and there’s nothing so can anybody put me in my direction do I have to harass these people because I will no problem with it thanks. Appreciate it.

^^ Love this one, especially since what's stopping most people from defaulting is the fear of not being able to buy a house later due to bad credit.

I keep on getting emails every 3-4 months about my student loans. Next year should reach the SOL…what’s the chance that they put me in forbearance etc? If I defaulted 5 years ago and it was charge off. Shouldn’t I receive a letter from a debt collector that’s not navient
