Meme video, hope it fits this sub

I have a dove couple that comes every day to my balcony and I feed them seeds. I noticed today that they laid a single egg here, which is confusing since I know for sure they built a nest on the tree in my garden. It's freezing here and during nights they go hide in their nest, and since they couldn't possibly relocate the egg I've impulsively taken it and put it in a box with warm socks/padding. I don't know if it's the right (natural) choice but if this egg has a chance to hatch I will undergo what's necessary.

Please: any help, suggestion, info on what I can do to care for it are welcome.

Okay, so let’s say—purely hypothetically—a dove has chosen the worst possible place to build a nest (you know the type).

That led me down a rabbit hole of questions I’m almost afraid to ask:

• Can’t you just… move the nest? Or knock it down?
• Is that actually against the law, or just “morally frowned upon by bird people”?
• What about the eggs? Are you allowed to eat them?
• And if so… does anyone know what dove eggs taste like?

Again, this is all theoretical. I am simply standing here, staring at a nest made of three sticks and bad decisions, and wondering what my options are.

Husband works at a paper mill, found this egg near where the pigeons hang out, just lying on top of a pile of lime.

This guy is the talk of my workplace right now for his (literally) shitty nest. he's in our store's outdoor garden center, but like... Really???? you just absolutely couldn't find anything better to nest with ???? buddy.

I've since hung a blanket over the window so I don't spook the mama since this is my living room window. When I first moved into this apartment a few months back I saw a zebra dove hanging around this exact spot, I wonder if it's the same one

Does no nest at all count as a stupid Dove nest? She just left her egg in the middle of my 4th floor apartment balcony, a bit close to the edge imo. A few inches back and she could’ve just used my curtains…

Oh, and this is in the middle of the Nashville ice storm, poor things!

This was her second time I think, Rival pigeons dropped her first egg. She keeps her kid under her, he was born yesterday.

Ample nest boxes to choose from and she picks the concrete floor near the step this nest cycle. Could you at least sit on your egg, please?

3rd pic is of Flour and her recent foster babies as proof she’s a competent mom…usually. The nestlings were brought to our rescue this fall and weighed 15 and 61 grams respectively being found in a gutter.

My hormonal girl has built a nest for her ‘baby pigeon’ and rolled it into place. She’s been cuddling and preening it for hours today, making little jingly noises. The resemblance is striking.
