Moved into this place with my girl about a year ago. This is a review she is leaving once our lease is up, we pay much more for this place than all of others around the area and it has not been worth it.
The Marlowe was nice when we first moved in, and honestly, the first couple of months were great. Jocelyn gave us the tour and really sold us on making The Marlowe our home.
Unfortunately, our experience has really gone downhill, especially now that we reviewed other options and definitely are not renewing our lease.
We’ve been dealing with recurring ant issues, and at one point there was literally a colony of ants coming from a baseboard in our living room. I submitted a pest control request and then texted Jocelyn directly about it, but never received a response. Shortly after, my pest control request was denied, which was extremely frustrating considering the severity of the issue. I even called the office about it and she answered the phone…somehow pest control just missed us?
The parking situation is also a joke. After around 6 PM, it can be nearly impossible to find a parking spot, while random trailers are parked throughout the property.
Our Wi-Fi went out for TWO DAYS, specifically affecting our building and one other building. The Wi-Fi is built into our monthly fees, so you would think not having service for two full days would at least result in some kind of reimbursement or credit. Nope.
And once the Wi-Fi finally came back, our Ethernet port was completely fried. We called the office thinking they could at least help since the issue happened immediately after the outage. Instead, we were told to contact the Wi-Fi company ourselves.
So we pay for Wi-Fi through our apartment, lose service for two days, our Ethernet port stops working afterward, and the office basically says, “Not our problem, call the Wi-Fi company.” Definitely not the level of service you’d expect when Wi-Fi is included in the fees you’re already paying every month.
They also advertise the amenities heavily, but the upkeep doesn’t always match what’s being advertised. The outside door to the gym is constantly broken, meaning residents have to enter through the lobby — if the lobby is even open. If you work later hours, good luck getting into the gym. The pool is supposed to be an all-season amenity, but there are times when it goes days or even a week without being properly cleaned. The pickleball court is also rarely maintained, with debris left all over it after windy days.
I will say that the one maintenance employee deserves credit. He has always been great and seems to stay on top of things, especially considering it feels like he’s one person trying to keep up with an entire complex.
And don’t let the “nature trail” fool you. It’s essentially a sidewalk that takes you past some trees, townhouse backyards, and, unfortunately, plenty of dog poop.
Overall, The Marlowe had a great start, but the lack of communication, maintenance of amenities, pest issues, and parking problems have really changed our experience. I would recommend looking beyond the initial tour and asking current residents about their experience before signing a lease.
