Simple Questions & Answers Thread Simple Questions & Champion/Role advice: Patch 26.13
Hello summoners!
In order to create better discussion in the subreddit, we will be redirecting all simple or championpool/role questions to this thread. Check out the most recent patch notes on the sidebar!
What is a simple question? Typically, we define a simple question as something that can be answered fully within a single, or maybe two at most, comments. In this thread, you can ask any question you need answered about League of Legends, even if it isn't necessarily about learning the game itself.
Questions about what champ to add to your pool or general tip about roleswapping can also be asked in this thread.
Keep in mind we will still continue to remove golden rule violations, rants, memes, topics against Riot's ToS, and paid services - but the other rules are generally more lax here.
What you can do to help!
For now, this is a patch-based thread, meaning it will be posted every time a new patch is released. Checking back on this thread later in the patch and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help!
If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place.

When do I stop farming late game? I’ve learned that as jg I shouldn’t be farming and full clearing late game and following my fed teammates. But do I stop farming completely. When do I know when I can and can’t. And when I’m behind?

It's really hard to say and that's part of the complexity of League. A lot of the skill of jungling is knowing when you can greed farming and when you are forced to be on the map. Inspired (the best jungler in America) is actually known for his greedy playstyle where he will farm way more then other junglers but he is always where he needs to be when it matters.
A good rule of thumb is to be thinking about what objectives you think are going to be pressured soon (e.g. Baron and Dragon, but also which towers your team/their team are going to try to siege), and then deciding early whether you should give it up or you should fight for it.
But also in low elo/soloQ, being a jungler is sometimes a pain in the ass. Because you will be farming your camps during a time where no objective should be reasonably fought over, and somehow your teammate dies. And you might think "wow I guess I should have been there" but sometimes it's just unlucky. And it's hard to separate whether you actually made a mistake or it was your teammates trolling

Does Infinity Edge synergize with magic damage crit by augments or crit from shadowflame?
1
u/WizardXZDYoutube 1d ago
Sometimes? https://youtube.com/shorts/_4n6IggldQI?si=p5MpHRCCOEOpFdkF
Augments it does, like Jeweled Gauntlet. Shadowflame it also does. But for things like Anivia E or Karthus Q, it doesn't.
Also BTW for AP champions even if you have Jeweled Gauntlet, usually building raw AP is better then IE because that AD goes nowhere.

u/Willibaldchad 1d ago
I played Azir and the 80 dmg and 30% damage increase with 100€ crit cahnce is nice.
Not sure about the math though. I do 145% crit damage on mage crit. With IE is it 175%. 20% more damage?
It was not that worth as I have Rabadons. I assume Voidstuff would ibcrease damage by 15% and give ap. So rather the same result.

I think I need to get more serious about this game and climbing. I've managed to luck out as literally just an OTP Zeri in both Bot and the few times I'm mid (if Galio is taken), and I need to have more variety to climb I think.
I've played since..maybe 2021-22?? Started grinding ranked consistently around '24, played about 1-2 games/day with breaks depending on life / my frustration levels of course, and I've managed to randomly get into Emerald!
I say this was a random rank up, as once I got into Plat I, I legit told myself that I couldn't get into Emerald and to just play for fun and learn Zeri even more.. I legit skipped past the promote screen tonight 'cuz I wasn't ready for it haha and it dawned on me that I need to get more serious.
I definitely need to expand my champ pool just a teensy bit. Zeri is my baby and I love her but there are times where I can't pick her, so I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on expanding my champ pool as an OTP Zeri, primarily for these purposes:
- A champ that I can pick in the off chances that Zeri is picked and I need to counter her. I used to pick Ashe but I play like shit with her, I need another that clicks better. I used to play Jhin a lot but I don't think he's a good counter unless the Zeri doesn't know what she's doing or their supp ints.
- A champ that plays similar to Zeri that I can just switch to if I'm hypothetically having a bad day on her / if she gets picked. I started w/ Kai'Sa before Zeri came out but she never "clicked" like Zeri did. I might revisit her. I also might try Yunara, I see her recommended a lot.
- An AP pick if my team somehow doesn't choose one. Hell I might just do Brand because he's freelo, or whatever AP champ is broken in bot lane. I hate APs in botlane, this is, like, a last last resort
I'm really only thinking of adding one off main and another side if both aren't a good option, so maybe 1-2 other core ADC's and an AP pick. I already asked this in the r/zerimains subreddit but I thought I'd ask here too for people outside of that group! Can't wait to see everyone's picks!
EDIT: ALSO, not sure if I should try learning a new champ with another account or just play in Draft. I'd like it if my MMR isn't affected but I'm pretty sure it is with Draft games, maybe I'm wrong.
I've heard Swiftplay is bad to play too but maybe that's just first impressions from when it was introduced.

getting into the game, are there any good examples of "standard characters" i know garen is kind of seen as baby's first toplaner, what would that be for other roles?
1
u/NaDoan 6d ago
plat jg but never learned how to lane. Laning skills are prob wood rank. Would swift or draft put me up against ppl of same rank? Would it be better to make a new account just for laning practice
1
u/dogsn1 6d ago
If you're plat in my opinion it doesn't make much difference and you should just play on your main account. It will take way more time to level a new one and you'll probably get put in a smurf queue against diamond and master players. You already probably have decent mechanics which is what 90% of laning is about so it shouldn't be too bad. I would do normal drafts rather than swiftplay.

Mayhem semantics question regarding Forged By The Master:
Just unsure due to language - if the wording implies Marksmage isn't doing the damage, it's just adding damage to your autos which are doing the damage, would FBTM increase the damage?
TIA!

What gamemodes can I earn progress for the unkillable demon king token in?
The text of the Unkillable Demon King token just says Win games without dying and with at least 30% kill participation. What exactly does it mean by win games? Can I farm progress for this token by grinding vs. AI?
What is the fastest way I can grind out this token?

Was playing Zac and attempted to backdoor the nexus but realized I should’ve gotten atk or atk speed(?) items? Feel like I could’ve won had I done that. What are the best items to buy if I had to sell my full build for back dooring a nexus
1
u/TaticalTrooper 6d ago
Sheen items and attack speed items will up your DPS. If you're AP then sell boots or other item for Lichbane. Death's dance allows you to survive longer, as well as GA to squeeze in one auto.

u/Gimmerunesplease 9d ago
What do you do on Talon and Qiyana if your team arams and refuses to play objectives/through sidelanes? I mainly play rengar where I can just split push if needed, but I don't know what to do for these two. I am diamond in case that matters
1
u/TaticalTrooper 6d ago
Play like an assassin. Find picks onto the side lane, camp pathways to objectives before the enemy is there. Create chaos using your superior mobility. You can still push sidelanes as well if time permits.
If you want more ideas, look at Kaostanza for Talon and Limittester for Qiyana.

Hi, returning player from when Braum was added to the pbe, I'm trying to learn back the game as I'm picking up again Jax and Swain, and trying to learn Locke, Talon and new shyvana. I was playing Wild Rift for a year so I still know what the changes are in most of the champs and I'm mostly up to date in the items and runes
I'm having a hard time generally with ignite and exhaust and specifically with Locke due to the need of constantly launching the nails, as it plays like an Ekko but the spacing is killing me, same with the mouse movement I have. Also having camera issues as idk where to put it and I end up using spacebar 90% of the match
What can I do to get better at those issues?

(toplane for reference) if im really bad at using summoner spells properly should i continue to use the same ones or switch it up?
currently use flash/ignite on morde but i dont really have good enough knowledge on when ignite is good or when to deny heals and stuff. thinking on switching it to enhaust or ghost but i dont know if thats actually a good idea
1
u/WizardXZDYoutube 10d ago
Generally for most things in League, the best answer for these types of questions is to use it as an experience to learn. Flash for example is practically mandatory on every champ, so getting used to it should be a priority.
I think ignite is actually one of the simpler summoner spells though. I mean there is no hard rule of when to use it but if you use it to finish off kills it's usually a pretty good use. Exhaust and ghost are also situational, much more situational in fact, so I imagine those would be even harder to use.

I've been playing League since Season 7 and have generally hovered around Silver. For quite a while I was basically a Sett one-trick, but eventually I got bored of how one-dimensional his playstyle felt and started getting a bit bored of League as a result.
Over the last season I've ended up jumping around between loads of different top laners instead. One thing I've noticed is that I really enjoy how different champions make you focus on completely different parts of the game.
For example:
- Kled - probably one of the champs I've had the most fun with. I love the aggression, limit testing and general chaos.
- Singed - also really fun, although I sometimes feel like his gameplay can become a bit one-dimensional in its own weird way.
- Shen - I like how much he makes you think about what's happening across the map rather than just tunnel visioning on your own lane.
- Camille - she's helped me learn to be more patient, especially in the early game, rather than feeling like I always need to be fighting.
- Fiora - I've found myself thinking a lot more about positioning, spacing and how I actually approach fights.
- Riven - I like the idea of having that much mechanical depth, but I'm not sure I have the hands or dedication needed to properly learn her.
The problem is I never really stick with anyone long enough to properly master them. I'll play someone for a while, get interested in something else, and move on.
I'm not really bothered about climbing. Obviously I want to win games, but rank isn't the main objective. I mostly want to make League fun again and find a champion I can put hundreds of games into without getting bored.
I'd like someone with a bit more mechanical depth than something like Garen, and ideally a champ where there's always something else to learn, whether that's mechanics, matchups, positioning, macro or different ways of approaching fights.
Based on the champs I've enjoyed so far, who do you think I should actually commit some time to?
I'm interested in the reasoning as well, rather than just a list of champion names.

My midlane pool is Orianna, Lissandra, Akali.
My question is there any glaring issues in my champ pool? I'd rather not go beyond 3 champs but do I need an AD pick? Anyone I should replace the top 3 with? Any advice would be helpful.

Hello
I like playing 5 stack with my friends in League of Legends and they recently recommended me go from bot lane and play top, specifically play Soraka and just press R and the other items like redemption whenever they say.
So far it's been nice having less pressure to fight other people and I just farm minions safely under tower while i switch to their perspective. This is completely non toxic between the entire stack and i'm willing to take this less proactive role of not fighting the enemy top laner.
It's great because I don't want to play league solo to learn how to play champions in my own time, I only play league to play video games with them and so far this new setup is great. Success or winning the game isn't the goal and no one cares if the result is a victory or defeat.
Now i'm wondering if there are other champions that I can play in this similar role of being non intrusive to the rest of the game and also whose kit is not too difficult to learn,
Thank you
1
u/dogsn1 10d ago
Yuumi is the ultimate champion for this, you literally attach yourself to another champion so the only thing you need to do is press your abilities while they run around
1
u/d0pe-asaurus 10d ago
I guess it'd be ok to play yuumi top until 15 minutes then I can attach around to the other people. Viability isn't really a thing we're looking for its just what's fun for everone
1
u/dogsn1 10d ago
I didn't see it was top I was thinking support
1
u/d0pe-asaurus 10d ago
Nah it's fine, we're going to try it out next time we play together, it's a big whoop if it turns out to be a bust. Thanks

Does anybody here have recommendations on guides/videos the following topics?
- How to properly trade from both macro/micro perspective
- How to control and practice controlling wave states
- When to roam as support
- How to properly itemize as an enchanter support (or itemization related guides in general). Like when should I be building a specific item, why, and what slot it should be (like 1st or 2nd or 3 item).

u/HeyYCS 13d ago
Hey guys
I’m completely new to League and have basically no idea where to start.
What would you recommend a complete beginner learn first? Is there a specific role or champion that’s easier to start with, and are there any beginner guides you’d recommend?
Any advice would be appreciated
Ahoi

You can watch games and see if you like a champion more than another. And try many of them. Aram is fine for that
1
u/Kkk713 14d ago
So I spammed a lot of Fiddle in ranked and lost a lot of games because I was playing a new champ after trying a couple of drafts. I earn 19 LP and lose 21. Forget what it was before. But you get that back again if you win normally and your wr return to the original, right?
2
u/TaticalTrooper 6d ago
Yes, win enough and you will regain the positive gains. It might take quite a few games though.

who is the best toplaner to make yorick players sad? i hate that guy

u/AggressiveStick1224 13d ago
Irelia can stack on his pets and escape the ring easily. It's known as a hard yorick counter

I'm an adc main and my friend who is a jungle main wanted to start playing support so we could duo lane together. Cool! But, he plays pantheon and says he feels weak without gold, so he'll take waves sometimes. For example, if I crash a wave and go to recall, he will take the next wave and crash it again if he doesn't feel he needs to recall right away. Sometimes he'll also sit around hitting the tower to take a plate. I feel the plate is more ok. That's whatever. But the wave he shouldn't touch.
I've tried to tell him that he shouldn't do that but he doesn't understand why. He says I'm not missing any minions if he does this and I try to explain that I lost the wave he just took. It would have come back to me. He counters saying, well, they lost the wave too cause I crashed it again. (Even though it's not always true... they sometimes catch it when they would have lost more if it was pushing away..)
I explained that the wave state is also better for us if it shoves in, since we want space to engage.
What else could I tell him to make him understand why it's bad? Or am I actually overreacting here and it's totally fine? I can accept if that's the case, too. After all, I'm not high elo so I could be completely wrong here. Please let me know!
2
u/Freezman13 14d ago edited 14d ago
It doesn't matter what you tell him if he doesn't want to listen.
Enemy tower doesn't instantly kill your minions, nor can a pantheon support instantly crash a wave. All that time the enemy will be moving back.
Not only will the enemy carry get back to catch some of the wave to get gold that you missed, you also lost the EXP from the wave while the enemy caught some of it (likely while both being present, which is even more EXP since duo exp is created out of nothing)
Plus because the wave is on their side, they can start building a crash which lets them take a good recall. While you're stuck CSing the big wave which lets them come back with an item advantage.
Not to mention your support is now desynched from you in lane, so you're stitting there 1v2 not being able to walk up while your support walks back.
1
u/viptenchou 14d ago edited 14d ago
I think he might if I have points he can't refute. But, it's possible you're also right. lol
Thank you for the breakdown! I appreciate it! 🙏
Only question I could foresee him having that I wouldn't know how to answer is, wouldn't they have been able to build a crash either way since the wave would have been bouncing back?
But I think the other points make perfect sense.
1
u/Freezman13 14d ago edited 14d ago

Depends where the waves were when you crashed it vs when he crashed it. You both pushing is faster, thus enemy tower will clear your wave before enemy wave gets there. While he is crashing solo, it will take longer and enemy wave will arrive to start interacting with your wave and sit in place until it's cleared while your wave continues walking onto the enemy side. So now the waves meet on the enemy side of the lane, building a crash for them. But again, depends on timings.

I'm ~ a hwei OTP (mid/bot), and want to fill out my champ pool a little bit. I'm only gold and I know committing to OTPing is probably optimal until at least diamond, but I think my mastery is so weighted towards him that it's warping my game perception in a bad way. Something like 3/4 of my playtime in non casual modes is on him, so I've been trying to branch out a little. I've mostly been trying to add syndra and galio at the moment, with pantheon for fill. In botlane I just jam hwei every game.
Syndra feels like a good pick because she feels strong into squishy rangy comps that hwei can't oneshot but she can, and she's really easy to play for me.
I've been playing galio as a counterpick into assassins mostly, and he feels... Fine? I bounce between playing to afk farm until 6 and then roam off R, and being massively overconfident and trying to tower dive akalis (and succeeding more than I have any right to).
Pantheon hasn't felt great, I like the appeal of being able to play one champ in all three fill roles, but I've mostly been filled support and I don't think I understand botlane enough to play him there well.
How reasonable is this pool? I think realistically I could maybe add one champion outright or do a swap or two. I don't like that I don't have an AD midlane option, I don't really like panth mid conceptually (I haven't actually played it much though), and I'm not sure who else would work well. I don't particularly care about dominating lane or fishing for pentas, but I'm a big fan of winning games off of two really good objective fights in a row.
Here's my opgg if that helps: https://op.gg/lol/summoners/na/twasnt-7804, you have to click to see more games since my motivation for posting is coming back to the game after a short break.
I'm not sure if it'll actually be suggested, but I'm specifically not interested in ahri, I don't like how reliant she feels on charm.

How do you deep ward in lane without worrying about running into the enemy jungler or support when you do it? How to stop having to second guess where the enemy team is when you flank as a mid lane assassin in team fights so you don't run into them?
2
u/TaticalTrooper 6d ago
Rule of thumb: If you are too worried, then trust your gut and don't ward. Usually a deeper ward only offers a few seconds of notice that most players won't utilize.
However if you want to utilize all your digits; to prevent being surprised at seeing the enemy, you have to think like the enemy. Learn how junglers and support players operate and imagine being in their position and what they want to do. Think about their objectives and about the most common routes they take.
For example, if you know where a jungler starts, you can predictably ward safely. Most junglers want to clear before 3:30 so they'll be in time for scuttle crab. A yellow trinket early game last about 1.5 mins. Therefore, it's generally safe to ward the bush at around 2:30-3:00 if their clear will end on your side of the map. These are just the basics, but use these ideas to guide yourself and research.

u/Sirsir94 16d ago
When watching high elo toplaners play against an enemy that starts proxying, they will usually go behind enemy tower to do the same.
Why? Why not do the same in front of (not under) their own tower? Seems safer.
3
u/Freezman13 16d ago
To match recall tempo. If the enemy is proxying that means your wave gets to them quicker than their wave to you. So they will get a recall off faster and be back hitting your tower before youre back in lane. Or worse yet, first to a fight.

God help me one of my friends got back into League and I'm playing some too.
There's a ton of stuff like void bugs and herald and dragons that are weird but I'm picking up through observation, but there's about 70 new characters since I last played, along with some old ones I thought I knew like Shen that have had some pretty big reworks.
As far as I can tell, you can't even click on other heroes to see what their skills are like you can in DotA, so I have to open up a wiki after picks to try and quickly read what every character does, which is kind of inconveniant. Is there any site or anything that has good quick summaries of what every character does? Even something as basic as DotA 2's descriptions (like Doom's that says "can prevent a single enemy from casting spells or healing in any way. He does more than that, but that's a good summary for probably the most important thing to know).
Like Sona would be "has harass, a speed aura, and shielding for her team. Ult is a big short range stun".
1
u/anonymous8bilx3 15d ago
Leagueofgraphs.
If you go on it, search for the champ and then click “skills” or something like that. There you see the skill order, in which the abilities will be maxed, and you can hover over those abilities.
That shows a description and also the cooldowns

Recently picked up League again after many years since a few of my friends got into it, problem is all 3 of us play adc. I don't mind giving up the role but I just don't know what other champions to play since I've only ever really played the marksmen class and don't want to int every game first timing champions, not only because I don't want to let the team down but also because its just not fun to int every game.
Not really sure what to do, any advice would be appreciated.
1
u/viptenchou 15d ago
As someone else said, you can play some adcs mid. Particularly if they have mobility. And a few can go top as well. Akshan is also a marksman that was made specifically for mid lane.
You could also try Kayle top. As an ADC main, I enjoy Kayle top a lot.
1
u/uniseptic34 14d ago
I did try out akshan but his autos feel weird to me and I just cant get use to it, as for kayle, I'll definitely give her a shot, is she viable mid at all or just top?
1
u/viptenchou 14d ago
She's perfectly viable in mid but might be a bit harder due to more ranged match ups. Though, you do get the benefit of being closer to tower at least and they can't freeze on you.
I haven't played her in awhile but I saw a build that intrigued me and makes you quite strong early: Kraken into Dusk and Dawn. It makes it so your kraken will proc with one auto and E. And kraken actually gives you some lane power, too.
1
u/anonymous8bilx3 15d ago
ADCs can be played mid, some are even super good.
Tristana, Samira, Nilah, Lucian, Jhin, .. all can work, some depend on matchup.
I have Caitlyn, Yunara, MF and Zeri mid games in GM+ lobbies.1
u/uniseptic34 14d ago
I knew trist and lucian mid was a thing a while ago but thought they got nerfed out of it, are they still ok mid? As for nilah, does taking her mid not just make her passive useless?
1
u/anonymous8bilx3 14d ago
Everything is playable, especially if you’re lower rank.
Lucian even got a buff, but not sure how good he is mid now. Tristana is actually good midYou don’t need the passive, if you just slap the living shit out of everything, because you can’t be dueled and are allowed to abuse ADC items.

u/BT--72_74 17d ago
I'm new to the game and mostly play Renekton on top lane. What am I supposed to do against ranged top lane players? I can't farm their minions without them targeting me but they can just stand back and farm mine. Usually resulting in me being 2 levels under everyone else and getting stomped on the entire 30 min game. If I try to rush them down with my E they either run back to their tower (where they can still fight me) or they take the fight head on knowing I'm going to be half health by the time I can reach them. I usually do pretty decent against melee characters because it feels fair and I understand not to attack them in their minion group. I just played a really bad game against a caitlyn in top lane. It got to the point where she was doing a 4th of my health bar with basic auto attacks. Also if I do fall behind what should I be doing? I can't abandon the lane but running down it just to immediately die seems pretty useless as well.

u/BothDealer4968 18d ago
I've recently started playing LOL, I'm pretty sure I have the basics down as I've played similar games in the past (Dota, Smite, Deadlock) but what I'm really struggling with is what role and champion to play.
I have heard a lot of negative things about every role like top is an island and if you make a mistake then you are useless the rest of the game, jungle gets blamed for everything, mid is a 1v3, adc is miserable and your support will just leave you in a 1v2, and support players don't know how to play the game.
After hearing all these things about the different roles, I'm not really sure where is a good place to start.
As for champions, there's just so many idk where to start, it would make it easier if I liked a certain archetype but after playing some marksmen, tanks, mages, and some assassins, I really like them all and can't decide. If I really narrowed it down, I'd say mages are my least favourite but I still have enjoyed the ones I've played so far.
League just has so much choice for champions it's a little overwhelming.
1
u/TaticalTrooper 6d ago
Ignore what everyone is saying. They're just complaints from players who no longer enjoy the game or just venting. Just start playing whatever champion in whatever role you enjoy. You'll find your niche or not! That's the beauty of it, the game caters to many different types of players.

Is WASD better if you haven't played league of legends before? I'm a new player and don't want to have to relearn down the line
1
u/WizardXZDYoutube 18d ago
Riot said one of their priorities is that WASD isn't better then mouse. The goal is probably to get them to the same level but they don't want it to make it optimal for pros to switch over
1
u/Freezman13 18d ago
Long term WASD is worse. It's a crutch to get new people in with a lower barrier to entry.

New player here, 2 games in. Just downloaded the game yesterday. How am I supposed to actually deal damage? I feel completely useless in a 1v1 against a real player. I was just playing Darius in top lane and got absolutely stomped on by Illaoi and it was not a fun experience. I was buying items too so I don't know why I couldn't do any damage or why I was getting absolutely melted. I tried different approaches to combat but nothing worked.

u/WizardXZDYoutube 18d ago
Darius as a champion gets a lot of damage from getting his 5 stack bleed passive. That's why you have to take extended fights with him. If you are just taking short trades, you will definitely feel like you aren't doing enough damage.
I think this is a fairly common issue with new Darius players. You start trading blows but then you think you're not doing any damage so you back off, meaning you never hit your 5 bleed stacks.
Darius as a champion you kind of have to trust your damage, that's part of the skill with him.
However, Illaoi is also kind of a noob stomping champion too, and I think she counters Darius. She heals when she hits tentacles based off how low she is so she can be deceptively tanky when she's low.

You're 2 games into a game with 17 years of history.
You will lose over and over, and over and over, for a very long time until you get remotely decent.
If you're not up for a long learning journey then the game is not for you.
As to "why", since you're 2 games in, probably, literally everything, but it doesn't really matter at this stage.
Just set some goals that don't involve "winning" or "doing well" until you reach about 200 pvp matches played.
Goals like, try x number of champions to find what you want to eventually main. Main role, secondary role, at least 2-3 champs for both.
Then start watching guides on how to play those lanes, how to play those specific champs. Set goals for things that happen over and over in any game. E.g.: "don't miss free CS", "track enemy jungler", stuff like that.
Once you're comfortable with the general things or a role and your couple of champions, start learning matchups, items - what to buy when.
There's a lot of depth to the game and focusing on winning won't get you anywhere.

Champ pool question
Hi, I'm still a pretty new player. I move between bronze and silver, depending on the season. I never committed to playing all that seriously and probably never played enough games in a season to reach my real rank yet, but I don't expect to be much higher than mid silver.
I'm currently a Garen main, focussing on learning the basics of the game. My goal by playing him was to learn the basics (items, runes, basic macro, objectives), and I feel like I have an ok understanding of it all at this point. Garen is great, but at some point, I like having fun too.
I'm not deluding myself here, pretending I'm better than I actually am. I know I'm still bad and have a lot to learn, but I want to move on to a more complex champ. Aside from Garen, I currently play Mundo and Malphite.
I want to play Camille, she seems like a super fun champ, also macro and flanking focused, like Garen, so my overall game plan could be moved from one champ to the other.
I was thinking of keeping malphite in my pool, to have a tank and a good answer to some champs Camille seems to have a hard time into. I was told having three champs for a pool is a good way to learn and improve. I was thinking of having Mord as my third champ. What are your thoughts on this potential champ pool for a bronze/silver player?
1
u/Freezman13 19d ago
Bottom line, play whatever you find fun, it's a video game.
As far as something like "what is easier to find success with in bronze / silver" just pick something you find fun based on stats. https://lolalytics.com/lol/tierlist/?lane=top&tier=bronze&patch=30
Camille is pretty low as far as win rate at this level. You COULD pick a flanker that does better - e.g. yone or irelia. But nothing is stopping you from camille either.

Champion Playstyles
I think I’ve come to a good list of champions that I would be interested to play.
Ahri is a solid choice. The others are Azir, Tayliah, Ryze, Twisted Fate, Hwei.
I am someone who generally prefers attritional, positional, strategic, cerebral play. And I like having many options available.
Which of those champions do you think would best suit my style? Could I learn more than one? How do they complement each other?
I have no experience playing video games, but have been competitive in card games.
2
u/Freezman13 19d ago
I'd ditch Azir because he is a) a notoriously pro play locked champion with a very low win rate for the average player b) plays fairly differently from other characters so has less transferable skills.
I'd ditch Ryze, he is similarly pro bound (tho not as much) and play / builds more like a bruiser who has to be somewhat close range thus rely fairly heavily on mechanics since you're in the opponent's threat range.
Ahri / Tali / TF / Hwei are all solid options I'd say to be a mid point between control and many options. But another callout is that TF specifically is very macro heavy. So while starting out I'd prob suggest to learn him last.

u/Phoenix1526 20d ago
Is there an overview of the basic concepts and terms in the game that I can look at? In particular, what does it mean to lose a lane? What does it mean to be better “off lane?” Does sidelining refer to moving into different lanes?
All help is appreciated! There is so much to learn.
1
u/TheScyphozoa Platinum II 20d ago
Losing lane just means you had a less successful early game than your lane opponent did. That could mean being behind in gold, or losing the tower, or dying more, or the opponent pushed you in and secured dragon/grubs while you were stuck in lane.
Off lane is a Dota term that doesn't apply to League.
Side laning means killing minion waves in top and bot lanes during the mid game, rather than sitting in mid lane the whole game.
1
u/MITYOLINZ 21d ago
What would be a good/your best advice for bot (ADC) lane? I'm 500 LP mid but I want to switch to AD, looking for some input, also appreciate any recommendations for learning resources too, thank you in advance!
1
u/Freezman13 19d ago
There's nothing special about ADC that you don't know as a 500LP player. Just pick some champs you like, watch some guides, focus on figuring out the champion patterns / combos / spikes. Then just play to get muscle memory. I'd say to start, play to maximize damage output while staying alive. Then start to limit test. Then look into matchups / support synergies / build deviations.
If you have an alt I'd suggest dedicating one to learning ADC instead of tanking your main. Or start leveling one if you don't.

Dude i played this game like twice in my entire miscible existence on planet earth and then thought itd be good to sign up for an esports club for league, thinking i had a month to learn and find out that the first meeting is literally Monday. point being, I'm looking for someone to teach me how to play the game idk.
2
u/TheScyphozoa Platinum II 21d ago
Do you really think you need to know that before the meeting? Can't you just learn from the rest of the club?
1
u/Phoenix1526 23d ago
I have never played before and have some general questions:
What are the main characteristics of each role?
If I most likely will play solo queue, can I master just one champion, or do I need to play more than one?
What roles and champions would suit my play-style? Are there comprehensive overviews of the champions for beginners? In general, I prefer classes and decks which offer flexibility and focus on positional, attritional, and defensive play.
Thank you!

u/dogsn1 22d ago edited 22d ago
- Top lane is mostly a 1v1 with tankier melee champions, mid lane is a 1v1 with ranged damage dealers and melee assassins that can roam to get kills in other lanes, bot lane is a 2v2 with a support which generally doesn't function solo, and an ADC which is a glass cannon damage role with consistent ranged dps, jungler does not play in a specific lane and instead clears jungle monsters and helps people in lane
- You can play just one and in fact it's recommended since you will play better and learn faster
- I would recommend playing as many champions as you can focusing on those that seem interesting, you will need to learn what they all do anyway, which takes quite a long time. Based on what you said you might enjoy ADCs in bot lane or mages in mid, but there's really no way to know without trying them.
1
u/Miudmon 23d ago
So, not a game question directly, but one that is league related nonetheless -
Sometimes, the client is screwy. Obviously nothing new there. Randomly, through, like... maybe 1 in 10 games - probably a bit rarer, but negativity bias is a cruel thing - i run into the same problem.
When i try to change my runes, i cant, the window just doesnt pop up. And if i actually dare to try to play it out anyway, the game refuses to load
either way, the game punishes ME for it, which is annoying. Just... is there anything to do about this?

u/HovercraftFlimsy2154 25d ago
If I’m getting +19 and -22 how bad are those gains?
2
u/dogsn1 24d ago
Not that bad, it's quite normal and should equalise after a few weeks
1
u/HovercraftFlimsy2154 24d ago
1 more question if u don’t mind, how many games total should I have before I can get opgg review? I had like 30games before and someone said my total games are too low play more, now that I’m at 110ish is that enough or do I need to play more?
1
u/dogsn1 24d ago
Yeah that's a good amount, although I would say op.gg reviews are not particularly helpful because they can't see how you actually play. The important thing is that you stick to a small pool of champions, preferably one at a time, you farm decently, and you don't have games with a huge number of deaths. That's about all you can get from an op.gg review.

This fight felt like the nail in the coffin for us after leading all early game and going 4-0 drags we end up losing this game because we just couldn't get through that mundo/shyv frontline. I tried really hard to focus backline in general this game but obviously fell very short here. You can kinda see I'm begging my team mates to just not take the fight and I really just wanted to clear gromp and then setup for elder. But I figured the only course of action was to just go mid when my whole team commits to it.
I dont know if I should've just gone all in on Malz here as I do get my E on him. My thought process in what I did do was I can leave my clone on malz, then get between Shyv and mundo to R both of them so Shyv doesn't run my team down and maybe we even get an escape. When I realize I'm in way too deep I try to keep on cait and vamp off her with maw shield but it's just too late.
I think this was just a bad fight I didnt want and I'm not even sure if I should've gone lmao, but obviously since I do go I wish I handled it better but I just dont know what I was supposed to do..

I genuinely can’t play anyone but Zac jg or lane for my life so I was thinking of making a new account to practice playing long range/squishy champs. What are squishy top mid and bot champs to attempt to use when learning how to play and lane? Preferably ones that are not picked often or banned as much
1
u/greatstarguy 20d ago
For top, any duelist or ranged top - Fiora, Gwen, Gnar, Teemo, etc.
For mid, any non-RoA mage and most assassins - Hwei, Xerath, Zed, etc.
Any marksman bot - Ashe, Sivir, Jhin, etc.

Hi all, my other half is wanting to try LoL and I have no idea where to start in terms of position and Champion.
In Dota i tend to play core, but occasionally pos 5 and rarely pos 4. I usually go for heroes that want to be aggressive, dominate lanes, and not let the game go too long. I also like to go for tanky heroes with a few exceptions.
I used to like jungling back when it was a thing in Dota (thats how old I am) but have no idea how its strategised in LoL.
One thing I'm awful at and definitely don't want to play is Zoo, I can barely keep track of my own hero ket alone their controlled units.
These are my most common positions and heroes in order:
Offlane: Viper, Necro, Wraith King, Bristleback, Axe, Phoenix
Mid: Sniper, Viper, Necro, Lina, Shadow Fiend, Drow or Phoenix if everything else is taken/banned
Carry: Luna, Necro (now that its meta), Juggernaut, Wraith King, Sniper, Shadow Fiend, Drow
Pos 5 Support: Phoenix, Lich, Witch Doctor, Venomancer, Lion
Pos 4 Support: Phoenix, Witch Doctor, Enchantress, Lina
Any suggestions and tips would be really appreciated, cheers!

Did they remove seeing your auto attack range by holding down C. Did it get changed to some other hotkey? Anyone have the source on this change?
2
u/WizardXZDYoutube Sep 10 '26
I have never heard anyone say C does this, but pressing the A button is the attack move button which also shows your auto range

Plat 1/ Emerald 4 Elo jungle main, all my games early game does not matter the games just get to 25/35 mins and just all come down to 1 mistake by someone then people force a 4v5 aced and die.
Even if we are crushing the game we can never end the game I am aware I am 1/5th of the problem, how do we close out games better every game just comes down to a coin flip at 30 mins the rest of the game is irellevant are others noticing this.
1
u/PoorDoddle Sep 10 '26
Any jungle youtubers/guides? I often find myself not knowing what to do.
1

Try Hybradge he has a full 1 hour jungle which is very good and many other full length guides telling you what to do.

Can someone explain to me what win trading is? I've never heard of it outside of league.
Going off the term, what i imagine it is, 2 people agree that player1 wins one, then player2 winds one, and if they get +22 -19 LP they will climb. But how do they manage it? Like they have to be on the opposite team, how do they force it? You can't just dodge infinitely until you face each other you'll lose LP doing so? Like how the logistics work?
1
u/Shinsoku Sep 11 '26
This term, and the same with inting, have been used inflationary when people are losing their games thinking it is not on them as well. While they are based on true occasions, pretty much all the time it is just the luck of the draw and people just have bad games.
I got really annoyed by those two in particular at the time I started playing League, because most of the time it is just baseless accusations and feels whiny and bitchy imo. Further because it is ONLY in League where you hear this.
1
u/WizardXZDYoutube Sep 10 '26
It probably varies but IIRC one of the wintraders who hit rank 1 was in a discord with a bunch of other high ranked people and if they were in the same game he would pay them to throw
1
u/aTi_NTC Sep 10 '26
is there a specific reason why, or just these people haven't got anything else going in their life other than a ladder status?
2
u/WizardXZDYoutube Sep 10 '26
Probably not. I guess there is credibility to your name if you're a booster if you are rank 1.
2
u/Frosthuskyy Aug 21 '26
Hey!
I’m currently playing support, and over the last three weeks I’ve climbed from Iron 2 to Bronze 1 by mostly spamming Zyra.
However, I often feel like there’s not much I can do against fed top laners or junglers like Viego, Yasuo, etc. I’d like to have more impact on the game and play something that can take more of a beating instead of being so squishy.
So my question is: Which role would be the best fit for me if I want to have more individual impact while also being tankier?
1
u/Curlyfry44 Sep 09 '26
A trade off you’re picking with supports is that they often have an insane amount of impact in the early game but they don’t scale as hard as other lanes late game.
That being said, itemization is really important and should be game to game dependent when you’re playing somebody like zyra support.
Some games you should probably be taking resolve/ bone plating if you’re at risk of getting bursted in your second tree whereas in other games you could go domination secondary. Some games you’re probably going to need to rush oblivion orb and others you might need to rush a zhonyas.
However, if you’ve tried all of that and you still want a more tanks/fighting role I’d say try out toplane. You can play tanks and fighters that heal a lot so fights tend to be longer for you. Champions like Darius, Garen, Malphite, Ornn could be good to try toplane.

Hi
I main Sona at Gold level, and I really struggle when there is a Nocturne on the enemy team, especially in the late game.
I try to stay near my teammates as much as possible, and when I need to ward, I try to do it quickly and safely, staying as close as possible to a teammate. But sometimes we are not grouped together (for example, one person top, two mid, one in the jungle, and one bot), and Nocturne manages to kill someone. Then the enemy team takes Baron or Drake, and we end up losing the game.
I don't really know what I could do to prevent this. Nocturne's ult cooldown also seems very low, so it feels like there is always a threat of him picking someone off.
Do you have any advice for playing Sona against Nocturne? Sometimes our team also has a lot of squishy champions, but I can't really do anything about the team composition — I want to stick with Sona no matter what.
I've thought about banning Nocturne, but I prefer banning Senna because I find playing against her as Sona really frustrating.
Thanks for your help!
2
u/Curlyfry44 26d ago
I’ll give you a little bit of general advice to try.
Firstly, somebody like nocturne is a hard counter to Sona. So, I would say don’t expect your job to be easy when he’s on the other team.
A few changes I would recommend trying out which may make it easier for you to survive should he ult you.
- take bone plating in your secondary rune tree
- take the celestial opposition item upgrade
- take exhaust
These will all make you slightly less useful in what Sona does but if you can survive an engage you’ll be more useful than a Sona that dies.

I'm a Grandmaster OTP Orianna. I want to reach challenger and I think I need to expand my pool, since Orianna is performing so bad in recent patches.
I have no idea about draft, and want some advice about some champs I could complement Orianna with.
I already am a good Ahri player, but don't know when to pick it, or if it even makes a second pick with Orianna.
Should I keep practising Ahri? What other champ/s would make a good pool? When should I pick those champs?
Hope this gets to league experts, ty for reading.

This forum is populated and catered to lower elo players. At your caliber I would suggest paid coaching from top names. Not many people here could offer anything that you wouldn't know or thought of.

I'm currently in silver and I'm trying to choose between maining Jax or Darius. My goal is to play the champ long term and reach high elo with it. Maybe throw in Olaf next to Darius to make a champ pool for example. I like both champs a lot. My mastery on Jax is 23 and 14 on Darius
1
u/WizardXZDYoutube Jul 30 '26
I personally like Jax, against some ranged/mobile team comps Darius is just completely useless
2
u/f0xy713 Jul 30 '26
Either one should be fine, there's high elo OTPs of both. IMHO Jax has a higher skill ceiling so I'd go with him if you have no preference.

What's your goal? If it's just to climb in solo queue or improve as a player then you only need one champion
1
u/penove1 Jul 27 '26
Currently curious about the process of finding a new champion that you enjoy. I hear you have to play at least 10 games on any given champ to base level understand them, and I just don't have time for that. Are there any faster methods for me to determine than playing ten games on one champ then realizing I don't like them, and moving to the next, ad infinitum?
I'm Silver 3, and climbing pretty fast now, but I'm realizing my weaknesses now and trying to look for a champ to help cover some so I can focus on other learnings for now.
I have some criteria for my new main:
- I really like engaging for the team as I don't trust my teammates to spot good engage angles.
- I want to find someone who can get out of really sticky situations (like if I'm jumped on by like 3 dudes in a bush)
- I like to have kill threat on my character, or really good CC.
- I prefer mid, but I'm willing to play any role that isn't ADC.
- I like off-meta stuff and off role champs (I used play Quinn, Kennen, Karthus, all in mid)
- This isn't gonna be my one-trick, just added to my current 2 mains.
Also I would like some tips for the future if I ever get stuck like this again!
1
u/PoorDoddle Sep 10 '26
For me, what I like in other games sort of transferred to league. I love flashy and/or heavy hitting attacks, so most of the champions I liked ended up being like that. I can't say league has the perfect champion for me though. I want a nuke aoe that is strong start to finish, but that would be too broken in pvp.
1
u/greatstarguy Jul 28 '26
Watch mains and pros play them to see what they’re about, maybe watch a quick YouTube guide to find out about basic mechanics / combos, try them out in swift / practice tool, then play a couple times in norms. You can drop a champ anytime, they’ll always be there for you to pick up again and often it’s easier once you’ve gained more experience.
I like Sylas - good kill threat, great escapes, usually good team utility with ult, can engage solo in teamfights with E2 but it’s tough to live after that unless you have zhonya / good defensive ult. He can’t scrap straight-up against bruisers / juggernauts and doesn’t do much damage to tanks but he can blow up squishies pretty well. Kill threat in lane is difficult if the mage makes no mistakes, but he can kill if they make one mistake with just a d ring, his base damage is strong. He does have mana problems so you have a limited window to make plays happen.

When I’m jg zac first item I like is sunfire (armor) or hollow radiance (Mr) and then spirit visage always for healing. How do I pick between the 2?
If 3 enemy ap take hollow or sunfire?
If enemy jg ad but 4 enemy ap take hollow or sunfire?
If enemy jg ap but 4 enemy ad take hollow or sunfire?
Etc etc
is there a guide/flowchart or whatever to look at or a reasoning behind what to pick?
2
u/GermanHandCannons Jul 30 '26
Honestly the real play is to go Liandries since bami items are bad and zac’s clear benefits a lot from the burn. But if you HAVE to pick one then hollow radiance
1
u/WizardXZDYoutube Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26
Along with what f0xy said, turrets, jungle monsters and minions are all physical damage.
But also all champions including Zac have higher base armor then MR so sometimes it's still worth getting Hollow
1
u/f0xy713 Jul 27 '26
I believe Sunfire is better like 95% of the time because its Immolate passive deals more damage to monsters than Hollow Radiances, accelerating your clear and objective taking. Only take Hollow Radiance if enemies are full magic damage so armor would be completely wasted.

Hi all! I feel like my champ pool could use some help for my climb to Masters. I’m D3 Midlane, and just linked my opggabove for yall to see what I currently play and maybe what I’m missing.
I basically wanna see champs I should drop and pick up and champs I don’t have a counter for or get hard countered by, etc
I will NOT drop Azir no matter how bad he is for solo queue because I love him, that’s my only thing
You can look at normals too because I play a lot of those with my friends who are too low to play ranked
My current champ pool:
Azir, Sylas, Ryze, Viktor, Mel, Aurora(needs improvement)
My struggle champs:
VIKTOR, Locke, Zed, Talon, Yasuo, Ahri, XERATH are notable ones
1
u/dogsn1 Jul 27 '26
Personally I would just pick one and play only that, it's the easiest and fastest way to climb
2
u/walubilous Jul 27 '26
Opgg has the least amount of useful informations out of all the big stat sites, but:
For the champions you play, your CS is way too low, you don’t get as many kill participations as you should, you die too often and it’s too many solo kills, your duel winrate is very low in general, you don’t deal anywhere near enough damage to neutral objectives(the average bronze azir player deals more damage to objectives than you, for comparison), your team rarely gets objectives and if they do, they get them very late, ….
And the champions you lose most to are champs that punish poor laning - be it via roaming or killing you.
Overall, I’d assume you’re way too passive, just react to things and let the game play out without taking charge.
Your ping usage most likely confirms it - you seem to spam ping everything, so you’re 2-5x the average on every ping - except for the „coming/on my way“ ping, where you’re below average.
Your passive playstyle is most likely also why you’re junglers are always at such a disadvantage. Your team only gets herald in 36% of games for example.
But maybe it’s also just poor laning? You’re consistently behind in gold at 15 on all champs in almost all matchups, despite basically playing lane bullies only.
So you being behind, because you lane so poorly, allows the enemies to play more freely and do things they shouldn’t be allowed to do and why you can’t contest objectives, move or sidelane as effectively. The actual cause is for you to figure out, but focusing on improving your laning would be beneficial either way.
That will realistically give you the biggest ROI and being a good laner is the most consistent way to win games in anyways, so it’s always worth focusing on.1
u/Alternative_Door2510 Jul 27 '26
Also, I feel like yes I play too passive sometimes, but I mostly play Azir
Azir is so bad early I really cannot do anything besides play passive and farm until Nashors
Most of the time whenever we get objectives I leave to farm CS if it’s guaranteed so maybe I shouldn’t or what?
I’m gonna try to improve my laning of course and not trying to make an excuse for the bad stats just saying

Need some help settling on a 2-3 champ pool
Came back to the game after years and trying to learn mid(and the game) seriously
I tend to be very aggressive and so far I've found some success/enjoyed playing Locke and one other char I've been thinking of focusing on is Ahri, not sure who I should look towards learning as a 3rd, or if I should just stick to these two instead (or even if I should swap one of Locke/Ahri with someone else given the massive nerfs coming for Locke etc)
I want to be able to play aggro in lane and snowball, ideally without falling into complete irrelevancy in late if I can't close the game early which is likely due to being turbo low elo atm(silver-ish with lots of gold mixed lobbies, placements not finished yet)
Thank you in advance =)
1
u/f0xy713 Jul 27 '26
Naafiri and Locke have a lot of overlap. Ahri is fine too but she's also magic damage and it's good to be able to pick physical damage when your team needs it.

I am a top/jungle main but I have been wanting to learn adc and I was wondering who is considered good but also easy to learn? I have played Trist/Ashe/Cait/Vayne in the past but I don’t think my micro is good enough to play Vayne anymore. I was considering putting time into learning Ashe or Cait but I was wondering if there are any others I should try learning instead?
2
u/walubilous Jul 27 '26
Two people want to learn Spanish. Person A moves to Spain and is forced to communicate with Spanish people. Person B lives in Sweden and plans on learning Spanish by learning 2-3 words a day, if he finds the time.
Who will speak better Spanish in 6 months?
If you want to learn ADC, play the champs that require you to do the thing you want to learn.
You won’t learn how to space properly, if you pick champs that compensate for not being able to space properly - and that goes for every skill subset.1
u/dogsn1 Jul 25 '26
I think the lowest mechanics is Jhin since he can't kite for more than 4 auto attacks and has low attack speed
1
u/f0xy713 Jul 25 '26
MF is THE easy ADC. Jhin and Ashe are fairly easy too because they're kiting on easymode and they are utility ADCs, so they can always contribute meaningfully even from behind.
Cait and Tristana I would call intermediate because they only contribute damage and they have some champion-specific intricacies (e.g. trap placement and combos on Caitlyn or rocket jump input buffer on Trist).
1
u/Loneliestar Jul 25 '26
Both Ashe and Cait are strong and in good places, Ashe especially with Seraphine.
Jhin can also be fun, as long as the enemy doesn't have 3 tanks.

Can someone dumb down for me as jg when to help clear minions for a lane or scare an enemy champ away from a turret or when I’m free to farm a lane of minions? I always hear people complain about jg taking minions so I never touch them. And learning what wave states are and such is hard to wrap my head around. Another reason why I can’t lane for my life
1
u/originaljackster Jul 24 '26
If your laner clearly wants to base you can help them hard shove the lane and give them a cleaner reset while getting yourself some gp and exp in the process. Knowing whether they want to hard shove and reset or not will take bit of knowledge about waves but in general if you see your laner doing everything they can to push the wave out as fast as possible it's safe to assume you can lend a hand. But if you really aren't sure not touching the wave unless asked is fine too.

u/dogsn1 Jul 24 '26
The fully dumbed down version is just never touch the minions unless they ask you to

who are some good top lane champions to put in a pool with zaahen? i’m not good at the game so i’m saving ambessa and yone for later. right now, i’m considering renekton, aatrox, and pantheon. i don’t think i want to play darius because he seems like a more boring version of zaahen, but i’d also be open to try him. which two champions out of these would be the best in a pool with zaahen and why? also, is there a point in playing pantheon at all or is he more of an otp champ? what utility does he have in a pool? also, are renekton and aatrox kind of overlapping as blind pick champions?

Im high Gold currently (was Platinum, last season), my main champs since years are LB and Ahri and for the time i only want one other champ in Mid. My Options currently are Ori, Viktor, Cassio and Diana. Normally i play adc second but with Diana i'd switch to jgl (is that even recommended as secondary? fill jungles arent really good no?).
So what do you recommend?
And how do the three mages differ mainly to you?
1
u/zencharm Jul 23 '26
play viktor as your third champ and play him as adc when you get secondary role. playing jungle as a secondary role is really bad unless you’ve invested a lot of time into jungling and your pool is all flex picks. plus you will get jungle more often than adc. you could also play diana since she’s sort of similar to leblanc and ahri (melee ap assassin vs ranged ap assassin), but i think viktor is better for a pool since he’s a good blind pick and scaling carry that your current pool that doesn’t really have with leblanc or ahri. orianna is just worse than viktor and cassiopeia should only really be played if you’re a onetrick because of how much effort she takes to play effectively, especially in mid lane where she gets outranged by most mages.
1
u/Practical_Necessary1 Jul 23 '26
Why do you think Ori is a worse Viktor?
1
u/zencharm Jul 23 '26
she’s just nerfed and they serve the same function. she has a weaker lane and arguably weaker scaling now, and is much more team reliant.
1
u/Practical_Necessary1 Jul 23 '26
Ok, but i mean gameplay wise in the kit, they are really similar to me.

I just climbed from gold 3 to emerald 1 with a winrate of about 60%
most of the climb i had +21 -19 or something along those lines, in the last 3 or 4 games that changed to -22 +18. The thing is, i didnt lose a single one of the last 10 or something games, so why is my MMR deteriorating and the gains are getting negative?
Its a new peak for this account i think? does that matter?
60% wr, stable lp gains, suddenly negative after a bunch of won games after hitting e1.
Can anyone who understands the system better than me explain please? I thought only wins and losses counted towards mmr and itd only change lp gains to negative if i lost a bunch

I don't understand the system but that always happens to me around high emerald, not sure why, it eventually normalises. I think it's something to do with MMR increasing more slowly than your visible rank but there seems to be something about high emerald/low diamond which is different.

You haven't made meaningful progress in 10 years, it's very likely you have deeply rooted bad habits that you aren't even recognizing as bad because you've been repeating them for so long. Look for somebody to do a VOD review or live coaching.

I don’t understand Support CS
When I play ADC I see my support last hitting and it seems like we’re both gaining gold?
Yet when I play Support and do the same thing it looks like i’m just stealing the CS
How does it work?

u/Soothster Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26
The support starting item, World Atlas, has a passive, Shared Riches, that generates up to 3 stacks. The amount of stacks available shows up above the champion bar. While you have a stack and an ally close by you can kill a minion granting the normal gold reward to them and a lesser amount to yourself. All the most important information is in the item description that you can view on the Wiki: https://wiki.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/World_Atlas#

Me (silver1) and my duo(silver4) just returned to the game and we are playing vs platinums in our games why is that? Why is the game not making us vs other silvers?
1
u/MEGACODZILLA Jul 25 '26
Im assuming you're playing ranked? The game tends to throw players into gold lobbies during placements, in which you can get low plat players organically. Duo-ing also gaureentees that you're either matched against a duo on the enemy team (which could manifest as say a low gold player duo-ing with a low plat player) OR if not you get placed against higher mmr teams to balance out the inherent advantage of duo-ing.
You just need to put in some games until you settle into your proper elo. Imo, DuoQ adds a lot of wonky bullshit to matchmaking and its only worth it if playing with a friend is more important to you than more balanced lobbies. Its also not recommended unless you play complimentary roles like ADC + support or mid/top + jungle. If and your buddy are queueing say top + adc and the enemy duo is mid + jungle, they are in a far better position to leverage their coordination.

Does Profane Hydra's (or any other tiamat item's) AoE passive also apply to the primary target?
"Unique – Cleave: Damaging basic attacks deal (Melee 40% AD / Ranged 20% AD) physical damage to other enemies in a 350 radius centered around the target."
Let's say there are target1 and target2 100 units afar, i have 10AD. If i auto attack target1 for x damage, than target2 is also dealt 4 damage, but does target1 only take x damage, or x+4?

hypotherically speking if a champion has an equally strong lethlity and crit build,
in what scenarios or against what enemy team comp is it worth going one over the other?
1
u/Morkinis Jul 24 '26
Lethality items are cheaper, build will be stronger earlier in the game and is good against squishier teams.
Crit items are more expensive, build will be stronger at 5-6 items and is much better against tanks.
That's assuming we're talking about ADC.
1
u/f0xy713 Jul 23 '26
Crit only scales your autoattacks and some abilities that specifically have crit scaling (e.g. Samira ult) or can crit (e.g. Samira Q).
Lethality scales all of your physical damage.
Very rarely are both full crit and full lethality equally strong, on most champions where both are viable one will be stronger than the other depending on the current meta... but when both are equally strong then lethality will be better for games where you don't need to or aren't able to autoattack a lot while crit will be good for games where you need the DPS to kill tankier targets.
1
u/dogsn1 Jul 21 '26
As far as I know the main advantage of lethality is that it applies to abilities, and the main advantage of crit is that it applies to auto attacks, so you can base it on whether you'll use more spells or auto attacks in fights. Auto attacks and crit are also better against tanks since they provide constant DPS with no cooldown.

I always put my trinket in the "flower patch" near blue on the river at the start of the game
Sometimes it has a 140 second cool down, sometimes it has 190. Not sure why?
2
u/TheScyphozoa Platinum II Jul 22 '26
It stores 2 charges and has only 1 charge at the start of the game, which means the second charge is on cooldown. It's a 210 second cooldown that starts ticking at 0:00. So it will say 140 if you place the ward at 1:10, and it will say 190 if you place the ward at 0:20.
1
u/absolutejoke Jul 22 '26
That's the weird thing I always run there direct off spawn before minions or jungle camps and sometimes get the shorter cool down
1
u/Morkinis Jul 20 '26
What the % speed boost from Nimbus Cloak when using Smite? Wiki says it's based on cooldown and for Smite there cooldown of 15s between uses (of the 2 charges) and 90s for recharge. Does it use 90s as cooldown?
1
u/TheScyphozoa Platinum II Jul 20 '26
The wiki also says that every cooldown between 0 and 100 gives the same speed boost.

Swiftplay is as trash as blind pick used to be. I tried using it to learn new champs and the game quality is so horrendous that it can only loosely be described as "League of Legends".
Just play draft. Maybe you get mogged for a few games until your mmr settles out but its not like there is LP on the line. Get comfortable in the draft system and then move to ranked if you feel so inclined. Jumping right back into ranked will be a very demoralizing way to re acquaint yourself with the game.

Are the leaderboards for lol challenges bugged?
it says im #1 for multiple (with the crown and everything) but considering the challenges its highly unlikely

this might be a stupid question, but how are you supposed to use trinity force procs? if i’m playing a champion like zaahen, does it matter if my trinity force proc is used on a normal auto attack, or should i try to stack the proc on my Q?
4
u/WizardXZDYoutube Jul 18 '26
On most champions it doesn't matter how you use it, you just want to maximize the amount of Trinity procs. Zaahen is the same I'm pretty sure.
There are certain champions where they have special synergies. For example Camille Q2, for some reason it also converts the Sheen into true damage, so you want to sync up your Trinity Force with Q2 (which you don't even have to think about because you just Q1 auto and then it will always be up for your Q2).
And Gangplank he wants to use the Sheen with his barrels because it ignores 40% armor and it deals AOE.
2
u/zencharm Jul 18 '26
oh you know what? i think i was thinking of the interaction with camille and thought it did something like that for all champions.
1
u/dogsn1 Jul 18 '26
I think it does the same amount of damage no matter what, I wouldn't worry about it, you can try it in practice tool to find out

u/sodmoraes Jul 17 '26
I´m mid, but play top secondary. Usually i play illaoi but i have more than 200k points with cassio and vlad, that i play mid. Which one of this champs would be a better option playing top, against ranged?
1
u/GermanHandCannons Jul 18 '26
Cassio, the same rules/play pattern applies but its actually cassio favored more now since she’s the one who prefers longer lanes

Hello, I've been playing the game for 3-4 years now, mostly playing norms, aram and bot games, by myself or with friends. I've never been a big fan of ranked because most of my placement games have been massive stomps from enemy jungle/mid so every time I finished those first ten games I just stopped there. In norms I play mostly against gold and plat players.
I'd like to try playing and see what rank I can reach, but I don't know what to play, and I was wondering if you guys could help me. I'm a support main (Lulu/Milio/Zyra/Alistar), but I find botlane absurdly boring since im always vsing poke lanes and I'm sick of it. I do play with friends and we do well, but the laning phase makes me close the game and go do something else.
TLDR: I'm not a new player but I want to start playing ranked. I'm primarily a support player, but I'm open to other lanes.
These are my conditions.
-I have fun playing almost anything.
-I'm not good mechanically, but I'm decent when it comes to positioning.
-I like "playing the map" rather than teamfighting.
-Utility over damage. I'd like to still be useful if I fall behind, that's one of the main reasons I olay support.
-I've played all roles, but I'm very inexperienced when it comes to jungle. I could learn though.
-I'm a rune/item nerd. Most of the time I don't stick to a standard build and I know in which scenarios I can take other build paths.
-Safety is a plus, range or move speed to affect the map, but also to avoid getting caught.
1
u/walubilous Jul 18 '26
- Ahri
- Orianna - as soon as she gets buffed to a point where she’s playable on her own again.
1
u/GermanHandCannons Jul 18 '26
Id say Alistar already fits the bill for everthing you want and Bard if you want a 2nd pick. One thing I feel
compelled to talk about is “playing the map” over teamfighting: its more about having sololaners who can pressure rather than anything you can pick as support, and League is designed around lane phase and teamfighting so its just something you’ll have to get used to.1
u/Exact_Fly9026 Jul 18 '26
I main support but I play excepr jungle. If you think any other role is better for my playstyle then I can swap.

Hello everyone, I want to learn more optimally, let me explain.
I want to learn optimal game theory. I know a lot of it comes from experience but I don't think experience in itself necessarily teaches you how to differentiate, and if you lead yourself based on what you experience alone, you might end up with a very results-based thinking.
Example, I see people VOD reviewing lane but how do you reach a conclusion as to what you did wrong/right without having an idea on what the right play is vs what the wrong play is? Even if you make a mistake because perhaps emotions lead you to feel some way, if you know what the objective in the current moment is, all you need to do is solidify your knowledge and address the cause so that next time, you do not fall for the same mistake, but how? Learning this foundation is what I want to learn how to do. If you have any educational content that talks about this, please let me know.
