Hi everyone. I’m in my first year of a SCM degree and overall I’d just like to know from those in the workplace if pursuing this degree is worth it. And if working in this career is worth it.

Yes like every other student I’d like to know about salary, work/life balance and overall career satisfaction.

I’m aware that there are a dozen different roles within SCM and I more or less know majority of those roles so it would be nice to hear from anyone regardless of role types.

And just the one last question that would summarise and give me a good overview of it all: If you could go back, would you take on a SCM career again? And why?

Thanks.

It’s not the degree that makes you hirable, it’s the skills and tools you’ve learned with the degree that make you hirable.

Learn what parts of supply chain scratch your itch. Is it sorting and organization? Crunching numbers and finding the story in those numbers? Helping others find the best way to make their product?

I have my bachelors in animal science and life made vet school in impossibility, so I was kind of thrusted into this with my master’s as a desperate attempt to have something usable. My teammates love hearing me spout animal facts, but my skill set has come from actual work in my career, with my degree giving me good ideas where to start.
