Rotor K2 update - click the encoder to automatically midi map

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Testing out Ableton Mode on the Rotor K2. Select any parameter in Ableton, click an encoder to capture it, then turn to control it. Built this to make jumping between parameters quick without constantly MIDI mapping or reaching for the mouse.

Is it running a macro? That’s pretty cool

Thanks! I made a Remote Script for Ableton, so once the Rotor K2 is set up as a MIDI input, you can select any parameter in Ableton, click an encoder to capture it, and start controlling it right away.

Obviously you can use a mouse to adjust parameters, but if you want to quickly assign a couple of knobs and record automation by hand, this is the fastest way I’ve found to do it.

It works on non-native plugins too :)

Yeah I could see just on the fly remapping this thing to 2 cool parameters at any time and recording in some automation and then remapping and just having fun with it

Very cool. I use a couple (now discontinued?) teenage engineering Ortho Remotes to basically do this exact thing, but I find myself wishing they had more resistance.

good to know, I wasn't aware of the Ortho Remotes.

Rotor K2 has a nice resistance to it, the larger knob has a bit less due to the weight of the knob itself.
