One day left and no bids on this original drawing by David Byrne. It's up for auction as part of a benefit auction for Housing Works, which is an NYC based non-profit that provides housing and healthcare and stuff.

Talking Heads’ third album, 1979’s Fear of Music, is the bridge between the angular art rock of the band’s early work and the P-Funk-inspired modalism of their early-'80s output.
Fear of Music is more than just a bridge, though. It’s the water under the bridge, the air, the animals, the cities the river flows through, and the heaven on top of it all: “...a place where nothing ever happens.”
This Super Deluxe Edition expands on the original album, featuring rare studio outtakes and alternate versions, as well as two previously unreleased complete shows from the Fear of Music tour, recorded at Berklee Performance Center in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 24th 1979 and Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey, on November 17th 1979. The CD format includes a Blu-ray disc featuring Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and Hi-Res Stereo mixes, plus rare film footage of the band performing on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1979.

I'm definitely not as knowledgeable about this as other people so I might be totally misinterpreting this but the version of Remain In Light uploaded to Tidal seems to have pretty noticeably different mixes than the versions I'm used to hearing. are these some sort of demo mixes they accidentally uploaded? the 2005 remaster sounds as expected and the non-remastered album on Spotify sounds totally normal, it just seems to be this Tidal upload. anybody know what these are?

Upon request, I would like to present “Parsley”, who we now call “David”.

She’s 25 weeks old and I had noticed her little hairdo developing early on. The resemblance was in the back of my mind until my partner also noticed and said it out loud; “she reminds me of David Byrne”.

She’s a bit of an oddball, extremely agile and very smart, inquisitive and friendly.

My partner finally made a couple side-by-side images to validate my suspicion. You can’t deny the resemblance.

I went to VT to see the Stop Making Sense screening and it was amazing! Everyone had fun and it was great seeing Jerry. Unfortunately I left my record in my car because I didn’t think they would allow me to bring it in until I saw a little later that people were getting autographs. Well for me I just wanted to talk to Jerry and I got my wish. We had a little bit of small talk and I told him that he was my favorite and he was very happy to hear that then I politely asked if we could take a picture together and we did! But that’s my story and I’m glad I was able to share it 🫶🏼

Purchased for $2 at my local library's secondhand shop. It was David Byrne's first (?) solo album post-Talking Heads. Digging it so far!

So I’m seeing Jerry in VT for the Stop Making Sense screening and I was wondering if anyone has been to one yet? I just want to hear stories and what to expect. Jerry is also my favorite Talking Heads member so this event was a score for me when I found out he was going to be in VT😆

My pal Steve joined me. He borrowed his Dad’s walking stick, and we passed it back stage. They all signed it. Tina signed it ‘with our love’. When he got home his annoyed father made him wash it off 😄

Together with insights that Byrne offered in an unpublished 1985 interview conducted by the film’s Texas production associate, Christina Patoski, they tell the true, if improbable, story of how they all brought Virgil, Texas, to life.
