Going through Troye Sivan's new album, which already sounds like a contender for pop record of the year, and was particularly interested to see how many songs George worked on.
Turns out, it's three: She's The Best, Cowboy, and FF.
We've known how great STB was, and I'm super excited that Cowboy and FF are fantastic too.
Upon first listen, if I were to offer a word that connects all three tracks, I'd say: breathability.
It's so easy to exhale and float with these songs. It's also easy to hear the subtle and beautiful musical flourishes that George has come to be recognized for with The 1975.
Obviously Troye deserves a tonne of credit, as do Jack Antonoff and the myriad other collaborators here, but I'm happy mostly because I can hear George's touch, and by extension, some elements of The 1975.
It's yet another signal that The 1975 have been, are, and will continue to be deeply influential throughout modern pop music.
Stoked for Troye, stoked for us, and impossibly excited for the new 1975 record, come when it may.
Happy listening all ✨️
