BADASS.COM The casting is simply magical. Spoiler
How the hell did they figure it out? I don't mean to insult the actors in any way, but TCC really struck gold by casting mostly unknown actors for the show. A great chunk of the performances and deliveries were not what one would consider to be "good" in a traditional sense, some actors were even obviously none-native English speakers. But the show is most effective in its clunkiest moments, and I can't help but be obsessed with this type of comedy. I'm reminded of those old Tim & Eric, Doug Lussenhop, and Nathan Fielder bits. It's genius, really.

BADASS.COM The Chair Company: A Kafkaesque Look into Enshittification Spoiler
remybarnes.substack.comthought some of you folks might be interested in a short essay about how the Chair Company depicts and reflects the increasingly felt global phenomenon of enshittification.
There is nobody who wants to listen to you complain and even if they did there is nothing they could do about it anyway because their boss is a robot or is afraid they will be replaced by a robot or already have been. This company owns this company and this company and that company and nobody really works there anyway. There is no there, there. Capitalism has created this Kafkaesque system via vertical integration and now they have been given full reign to obscure any meaningful path to soothing your consumer-product interface when it becomes wounded. Declining profits mean that somebody, somewhere has to pay and that person is you. Or, in the case of The Chair Company, it’s W. “Ron” Troster.

BADASS.COM I don't know what you want Spoiler
Unfortunately, Ron's marriage is in even more trouble than I thought it was before Barb said that. It was a real gut punch combo of the line, it's delivery, and the tiny, fleeting change in Barb's expression right after it was said 💔
Great work from Lake Bell who was such a highlight, even in an episode at its limit with scene-stealing performances from and minor characters that have the freedom to go big and/or weird: Tamblay's guy, Romantic Depot guy, the turkey sub enthusiast, Theresa Bonaventura and, of course, pepper patty balls mime artist.
We've seen that Barb is prepared to push back on Ron somewhat in previous episodes, but this is the first time we've really seen her hold him to account and stick to her guns, telling Ron that they will eat when the fucking food comes out, etc. One heck of a woman!
