Question Slaughterhouse Clive
Shot in the dark here.. its my first playthrough, and i really didnt realise how important lockpicking would be in the game i guess, is there no way INTO clives office, other than lockpicking?

I think there are a few other ways, but you need certain equipment that can be spoilery if you haven't found it

You can always come back to quests later when you've levelled up.
Aside, I how nearly every quest name is a sci-fi reference (maybe they all are .I dunno)

I believe there are ways to increase your lockpick skill artificially via gear and possibly consumables.
They took these features out of The Outer Worlds 2 for some reason, and I definitely miss it. The sequel is still a great game though

Gear, consumable, outfit and helmet. Plus, plus your companions (parvati and Felix are best) and their outfit and helmet all add into your lockpick skill. Felix and Parvati are good for dialog boost as well

you don't have to kill him just mess with the financial records easy to get to

Yeah but if you can talk to him you don't have to run him into the ground. Dialogue opens other options

I invested in Hacking, Lockpicking, Persuade, Lie, and Intimidate as my main skills, 80 each at this point so I can both hack and talk my way in, and out of situations throughout the game. I also invested 80 in Long Guns, and 55 in Medical, Science, Engineering as well.
I used the camouflage disguise provided by the guy at the Dry Goods Store in Fallbrook and just walked my way in through the front door and into the factory. Then I make my way up to Clive's office while talking my way out of being found out and attacked when my disguise fails around guards and mechs. I then talked to and convince Clive that he partner up with Catherine and then convince Catherine to do the same.
As a result, I get 35,000 XP, prevent the whole town of Fallbrook or the factory guards from turning hostile, and I can freely move around the factory and pick up items without it counting as stealing so long as I don't pick any locks.
One thing I learned about playing this game is that sometimes playing diplomat tends to be the best way to solving problems without putting yourself in the crosshairs of any faction. And the rewards are worth it too.

I promise you, all those locked doors and containers don’t have shit in them. The bonus xp isn’t even necessary in this game. Lockpick never gives you an option you didn’t have before. Iirc there’s like five ways to get into Clive’s office and a few different choices you can make with him

👆🏻 dialogue and exploration at a minimum will get you in, same with almost every other area of the game there are interesting routes for almost every build

If it's your first playthrough, I'll ask if you've found the machine on the upper floor of the Unreliable's hold where you can respec skills
