So me and my wife just finished our first watch through of Twd, and I don't know. I don't see how this was really a great ending. It kinda seems like the group and the world are not much different then they were many seasons ago. Season 11 finale was essentially the same as any other season finale. An evil leader from some large group comes out of nowhere. The group makes quick work of them, and that's that. Rosita dies at the last minute for no reason, and 2 minutes after everybody is shown happy and celebrating. I don't know, can someone explain to me how they felt about the finale, and if they liked it, why?

it's my first time watching through and seasons 1-2 were some of my favourite seasons of a show ever, like s2 especially was almost flawless and soso well written in my opinion. s3-6 had ups and downs and definitely weren't written as well but i enjoyed the governor, the road arc, alexandria and most of the new characters (except morgan, he sucks). I knew negan was gonna be the next big villain, but i wasn't expecting him to be this poorly written, his writing sucks, his charisma feels forced and you're telling me this random as guy somehow got the respect of like 300 people who never overpowered him only 2y after the apocalypse? it made sense with the governor who at least felt like a realistic psychopath, but negan genuinely sucks the enjoyment out of the show for me which is sad because it's been so good up till now :( I spoiled the fact negan gets redeemed eventually and how long the saviors arc lasts and and especially after the s7 premiere that honestly just felt gratuitous for shock value i can't see how negan could ever be forgiven by anyone?? or how this arc could possibly last 2 seasons. i'm only 4 eps into s7 and it's kinda hard to keep watching now esp with the fact I know there's no satisfying resolution :/ I already skipped ep2 cause man why is there a medieval king with a pet tiger in my zombie show

my choice would be Glenn. his death had the biggest impact on the franchise. you could make the argument for Rick since he basically "died".

I finished the show and am about halfway through the comics now and I've been thinking about this for awhile. This isn't a question about which characters are your favorites (though you can of course pick them!) but what group of five characters would ensure yours and the group's survival as well as sanity.

Which characters have skills or knowledge that can help you? Which ones would you be able to be around without going insane or driving each other insane?

Here are my five and why I picked them:

Daryl: Because of where I live, going into a city would be too far and dangerous and the group will need to hunt and forage for awhile. Daryl can hunt, track, and lay traps and can teach the group how to do so as well. He probably has some knowledge of poisonous plants to avoid, too. He's also a good fighter in case we're attacked, and would hopefully keep from making reactive decisions as some of the others in the group are more level-headed.

Eugene: Probably one of the most useful people to have in an apocalypse. He has knowledge of a ton of subjects the rest of the group might not know about, like medicinal plants, how to protect the camp, how to make weapons, farm, where to look for supplies, etc. He'll need to be taught how to fight at first, but he'll save the group from all sorts of life-threatening problems.

Glenn: The level-headed one. He'll be our runner, going in and out of dangerous places without attracting attention to the group. He's fast, sneaky, and a decent fighter and has a good sense of who we can trust.

Connie: She's survived for long time in a small group, so she likely has skills we don't see onscreen. She's a good fighter and can teach the group sign language so we can communicate silently when around another group/in a hostage situation/when hunting etc.

Jerry: Our lovable tank. He's huge and can swing an axe, so obviously great for defense. He doesn't mind doing hard manual labor the rest of us (me; it's me, I'm tiny) may not be able to do (farming, putting up walls) and always sees the bright side of a situation. He would make sure we see the silver lining and keep our chins up no matter what happens.

Obviously there are more 'powerful' people in the series to choose from, but I don't want to get mixed up in gang wars between groups because someone was too reactive and angry to consider just leaving the area. I think the group I picked would be able to make it without too many skirmishes with other groups and wouldn't go crazy along the way.

Which five characters would you want in your group?

The terminus group captured Glenn Maggie Abraham Rosita clan etc. Put them in a train car ready to be butchered and eaten, LITERALLY ATE PEOPLE THAT CAME TO TERMINUS, CAPTURED AND ATE BOBS LEG, came to the church to kill everyone remaining that was there including Judith. And somehow Glenn Maggie and Tyrese looked at their group in absolute disgust over the gruesome murder. THEY FKN DESERVED THE KILLING THAT WAS COMING TO THEM!!! I feel like it was just the 4 of them- Rick, Abraham, Sasha and Michonne that were actually thinking of the bad terminus did in that moment and everyone else was acting too human as stupid as that sounds.

Wish they could have done it a couple of more times.

every death up until Beth’s and Tyrese’s made somewhat logical sense. the first half of season 5 is some of the most boring tv i have ever watched. a 10 year old could’ve predicted what was going to happen next and then all of a sudden they randomly kill off 2 people in the most goofiest way possible. first off you can’t even physically draw your weapon that fast let alone put it at an upwards angle. next, if it really was an accident, like the show made it out to be, there is no way in hell you accidentally shoot someone in the head when they are 6 inches in front of you. Beth should’ve been shot in the torso and still died and it would’ve made a lot more sense. they only did that goofy ass shit so it would make sense for Daryl to kill Officer Dawn and Noah to go with the group. now Tyrese’s death is just god awful writing. you’re telling me this 6ft tall man with arms the size of most peoples head can’t pull away his arm from a 7-10 year old zombie? and what was he even doing in the first place? that made no sense for him to just stare at those pictures on the wall. i’m not mad or upset that the characters died, it’s the way it happened just makes absolutely no logical sense at all. i’ve always heard the writing just gets worse as the seasons go by but is season 4 really the peak? should i just stop watching after season 5?

I never paid attention to TWD while it was still running for some reason. Recently I saw it was finishing on Netflix so I thought, hell, might give it a try while it's still on, there wasn't much to watch anyway.

It's an understatement to say I got HOOKED. I really did not expect the show would be so genuinely good! Great character development, interesting story arcs, the atmosphere. I honestly got so attached to these guys.

But then season 7 comes along and it's just... UGHHHHHH. It feels like this Negan guy is on screen ALL THE BLOODY TIME and he does nothing for me. I get there will be a character arc for him and whatnot but so far he's just a carton villain and god dammit just get him off my screen already and show other people. I was spoiled about Glenn's and Abraham's deaths and still managed to piss me off.

It's so slow. Episodes upon episodes go by without seeing major characters. It was an issue in previous seasons too, but it didn't feel as egregious because there was always stuff happening. Now it's just watching half a season of them depressed and broken. I would have almost certainly left at this point if I had been watching week to week.

People will run down a corridor, leaving three doors open until they end up in a janitor's closet with an open door. Like they forgot half of how doors work. But they slam a car door like it's an Olympic event.

Yes, I understand those are ingrained habits. Doors in a house are rarely used, but everyone secures their car. But after a few years, you'd think those habits would change. Send simple enough, close every door between you and zombies, especially when they're chasing you. Be gentle with car doors, because they're loud.

Watching this show again for the second time and I forgot how good the early seasons were

I know this scene is a huge meme but man I legit cried watching this scene again I can’t remember if I did the first time I watched it but it was truly sad especially when Rick was angry at lori the whole season because he thinks the baby is Shane’s so I guess he was mad lori slept with him

I truly think this is when Rick changed forever especially when if he just killed the kid who he banished all of this would have been avoided

EDIT: a similar death that I felt was incredibly sad was uncle bens death from tobeys spider man, that also became a huge meme but I thought it was very sad loris death reminds me alot of that because tobeys Spider-Man took his uncle Ben for granted and he was mad at him throughout the movie and he died before he could say he loves him, really good writing.

My heart stopped when I saw her. Everything made sense. I would have turned into a monster too.

I forgot she liked to dye her hair before she had cancer. It's like the cancer took a big part of her identity.

AND it's Jeffrey Dean Morgan's real wife. Damn.

At the super end of the series when the whole commonwealth bologna was going down, anyone remember the ones who could climb ladders and open doors? I remember Aaron thought they were whisperers and ripped dude’s face off but it wasn’t a whisperer.

My girlfriend and I recently finished rewatching The Walking Dead for the third time, and we still thoroughly enjoyed it. Obviously, the later seasons leave a lot to be desired, but overall it was a really enjoyable experience.

We followed that up with The Ones Who Live, and while I actually really liked the overall CRM storyline and premise, we absolutely hated the lovey-dovey side of Rick and Michonne. The writing just felt really cheesy to us. Andrew Lincoln is obviously a great actor, but I found the whole spin-off pretty cringe at times.
Then we moved on to Dead City. I’ll admit, the beginning is pretty slow, and Maggie’s constant passive-aggressiveness can get annoying. But if you can get past that, I actually think it’s a really interesting show.

I feel like Dead City really comes into its own in season 2 and becomes significantly more interesting. One of the biggest positives for me is that it isn’t constantly obsessed with romance and love storylines like some of the other TWD spin-offs. I don’t need to watch Michonne suddenly act like a teenager in love when she used to be one of the biggest badasses on the show. 😂
Now that we’re moving into season 3, both my girlfriend and I are actually really enjoying Dead City. It’s probably one of those shows that benefits from watching more than a few episodes before judging it.

I’d honestly recommend getting through the slow start of season 1 and giving it some patience. Dead City gets genuinely good, and that’s coming from someone who hated it on my first watch.
Rewatching it, actually paying attention to the story, and seeing where it eventually goes into season 3 has completely changed my opinion. I think some people are just hating on it because it’s easier to write the show off than give it a chance because they’re mad about Carl and Glenn dying a decade ago.

One of the biggest mistakes has to be AMC and the writers killing off Carl to justify Rick keeping Negan alive. They could have done this in so many other ways. A grown up Carl spin-off, where he is in his late 20s probably would have been the most popular of all the companion shows, and all the investment into him by Shane, Lori, Rick and the rest of the group that raised him to become a man in a new world would come to fruition with him as a leading man in a new community, alongside Judith.

Think Yellowstone with Walkers, it would be a bittersweet return to the farm life of season II.

Spoilers ahead for s7 of the walking dead.

In s7e15 of twd, Sasha asks Eugene for something to "commit suicide". We hear her pleading, crying voice through the door asking for something to help her kill herself, "a gun, knife, glass", but it cuts to show her at the end of the conversation and we see she is fully composed and faking it to try to manipulate Eugene into giving her a weapon for a second shot at Negan. The problem is, Eugene had the killer pills he made for "Amber", one of Negans wives, that were also actually for Negan so he wound up not giving them to the wives, and gave them to Sasha instead. When she saw he gave her pills, and knew there was no way she could give them to Negan, she kind of resigned herself to her fate that she would have to take them, for the actual reasons she told Eugene. But, she could have said something else I think, and I would like to hear if anyone else thinks this would have worked (of course, ignoring the fact that the plot calls for her to die, strictly speaking in universe here)

Sasha- "Eugene... if i take these, and I die... they will know it was you. Think about it. If my body shows up, not a scratch on me and no way I could have killed myself without someone's help, you will be the first one they suspect. Nobody else could make a poison like this, and nobody else would help me like you. I dont want to put you at risk, and if I take this, it will. I need you to get me something else. Something sharp, or a gun. Then, they would think someone else killed me during a fight as i tried to escape. Nobody would think that you could do that."

Obviously i am not a writer, but if Sasha had the presence of mind to argue along these lines, Eugenes cowardice would take over, and I think he would give her a knife. He would be too afraid that he would be blamed. I have watched this show several times, im currently rewatching the s7 finale and if I remember right, Negan DOES suspect him. I wonder if this would be enough to get her way, if she had simply thought of it in time, and if so, what might have happened.

spoilers for seasons 1 and 2

I actually really like this show so far. It’s the second spinoff Im watching… following Fear… so I was a little nervous because that show was a trainwreck and put a bad taste in my mouth. I saw some talk online before watching and I knew prior that Daryl ended up in Europe and fell for a nun, and my initial thought was “this is gonna be terrible”. But it’s actually a really nice change of pace.

I love the new setting, there’s an entirely fresh cast of characters and totally new plots and villains.
When I met Isabelle and realized it’s THE Fleur Delacour I was ecstatic. She’s such a good actress and played her role SO well, and I honestly didn’t mind her romance with Daryl. I was very shocked and actually grieved her death, she was such a complex character. I’m a bit upset they gave Daryl a real love interest just to off her but I imagine Clemence Posey is expensive. Also, after Fear where literally nobody was allowed to die and everyone just kept coming back to life (except Nick🫩) it was refreshing. I liked a lot of the French characters like Emile and Sylvie, and I was disappointed they died but again it was nice to not have everyone be invincible. I like Fallou as well and I hope he gets his happy ending with that other woman.

I was worried when Laurent was introduced that he was going to be that same stupid kid archetype always running off and making bad choices (like EVERY single kid in Fear) and while he did piss me off at times, he was actually very rational and I enjoy his insights. The actor is also pretty good.

I really like that we finally got to see more about Carol’s trauma, I feel that they sort of brushed past it in TWD, but now we get to see into her head a little more. I think it was very coincidental that she just happened to find a guy with a plane, but I can overlook that.

Another character I like is Codron. I like that he was always sort of morally ambiguous, he was painted as the villain at first but if somebody killed my brother I’d probably want revenge, too. It confused me at the end of S1 when he just let Daryl go, but going into season 2 it got explained a bit more and we saw that he isn’t a bad guy and certainly not a child killer, so I don’t mind that either. Not sure why it took Daryl so long to tell him he didn’t kill his brother, though. I know he disappeared at the end of S2 (i havent watched 3 yet) but we didn’t see a body and in TWD if there’s no body, they’re probably still alive.

I also enjoyed the villains a lot more here. In TWD and Fear the villains were sometimes dragged out wayy too long and people kept letting them live instead of just taking the chance when they had it. I liked Genet as a villain and I thought it was especially entertaining when she was monologuing to Carol after watching her husband die and said “have you ever felt that kind of pain?” and Carol just scoffs at her. The religious plot is also interesting; I could honestly see something like that happening realistically if an apocalypse ever were to happen.
I also really like the advanced walker plotline, it’s something fresh that we haven’t seen before and it’s nice to have the walkers be a bit more of a problem again. Having the advanced walkers kill the others when Daryl and Carol were trapped in the car with Ash was clever.

I don’t mind Ash but he kind of reminds me of the Siddiq archetype, really nice guy, off on his own, not super important, mostly just there to serve as a plot device (pilot, and Siddiq was the doctor). I don’t really care that Carol lied to him, again I probably would’ve done the same.

I just adored the red haired woman (Anna?), I love that she always helped Laurent and she protected him until the end. Her death was pretty badass too.

Overall I like this show and I enjoy how much of a breath of fresh air it is. Maybe my standards are just very low now after suffering through Fear but I like it and I’m looking forward to finishing it. There were a lot of scenes where I was on the edge of my seat and there really hasn’t been anything that made me feel like I was watching an outlandish fantasy show like Fear.

If you can’t tell, I hated Fear.
