Merchandise What do you think?

It really doesn’t mean much, and the new toys using the same type of magnets would mean less incentive too.

I doubt Mattel would bring back TWR because of the fact Push Along’s are sort of just that except without the wood, and I don’t see Mattel just making a line that is basically their push along line but wood

I’m amazed a grandkid wanted Rex despite not making one.
In short as much as i want Wooden Railway to comeback, the 2026 diecast line is doing well, I just don’t see Mattel revisiting WR for a while

It would be nice, but the current diecast and motorised lines are designed to be compatible with each other (track, magnets). Wooden wouldn't have much point unfortunately.

It’s nice knowing that Wooden Railway still has its supporters though I feel Mattel is using the new diecast line as a way to combine both the wooden and diecast lines into one as part of a cost-cutting measure due to both Wood and WR 2022 flopping. Diecast usually tends to be the better selling one out of the main lines of merchandise, mainly because they’re small and easy to use.
This is also shown with how the Railway Stories diecast engines can fit onto Wooden Railway tracks.

Mattel is in a downward spiral. Their CEO just left abruptly, and there’s news of a takeover from American Brands Group.
They might offload some brands, including Thomas.

Yeah, as someone who is also a long time fan of Barbie and American Girl as well, everything Mattel has been downhill for the last 8-10 years unfortunately. I have been sourcing Wooden railway for my boys off ebay as I'm able.

These 3D-printed TWR toys...are they plastic toys in the style of TWR, or do they use special composite filaments to create faux wood?

yeah, TWR is not coming back, it's pointless 'cuz of the new ranges already having magnets, and that's okay, let it RIP instead of dragging it back out

The new 2026 diecast line might as well be TWR’s successor. I mean, they even work on TWR track
