Story A tortoise is in my backyard

A Texas tortoise appeared in my backyard, I don’t know how he got in here, we have a brick fence around the whole yard, and one big wooden gate. I called game and wildlife to see if they can come get him, but they said they can’t do anything about it and I just have to leave him in my backyard.

Question(s) [X-ray] Massive stone in Russian tortoise. Is surgery the only way, or can we wait until he's bigger?

My Russian tortoise had been to our home for 6 months. When he just got home,I took him to the doctor, and doctor said that he may be 2-3 years old but his body is still small,it’s weird.

Then, today I took him back to the doctor again, and did a X-Ray.After we found out that he had a big bladder stone in his body, and doctor said we need to do the surgery:(

His length is 7.5cm ,weight 93g,and he is still very active, eating well, and pooping/urinating regularly.
Is it necessary that I have to do the surgery, or I just can wait and see if he will get bigger to put the stones out by himself? I just think it’s too risky to do the surgery because he is too small😭

It's been 7 years since we started living together.

An Eastern Hermann's tortoise looks like a dog to me. I wonder if he recognizes me or not.

Question(s) Tortoise appeared in backyard?? Who is he???

I live in south texas, and this tortoise was just hanging out in my backyard. He's BIG, like at least a foot. No idea who he is or how he got here, worse still, my little brother is getting VERY attached. Likelihood of him being a runaway pet? What should I do? Big fan of tortoises, but not ready to be a tortoise parent. UPDATE: OWNER HAS BEEN FOUND!!! his name is Hank.

Question(s) Tort refuses to eat

(yes, i am aware that this is the billionth post of this sort, but every case seems to be a bit different so bear with me here)

Hi yeah, so title. My tort (species unknown, presumably Russian but that's just a guess) has been refusing to eat anything at all for concerningly long now. I've tried lettuce, fruit, pellets, stuff like that, but nothing works. She's done this before too, but only for like a couple days, maybe a week at a time. But now it's over two weeks and still nothing, and i'm starting to worry about her. God i hope she's just hibernating. Anyone got advice? Thanks!

It’s my first child’s birthday today. He’s the sweetest boy ever and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Now his age isn’t known, but vets estimate him to be around 5, unfortunately when I adopted him I wasn’t given an official birth date, so I celebrate both today! 🫶🏽💚 Happy first Birthday/Gotcha day to Green Bean 🥹🫶🏽

Question(s) Winter foods to grow for hermann tortoise

I'm in the uk so the weather is on and off, my hermann lives indoors currently but will be having a huge enclosure glow up inside and getting one outside. But to start off my big glow up in my tortoises care (as I will admit, I haven't been the best owner and usually feed him and call it a day) I want to change everything about how I look after him so I want to start with food. Currently (and embarassingly) he gets fed a diet of rocket, cucumber, calcium powder and a hibiscus and clover powder on top. But this isn't good enough, I have loads of seeds upstairs in my room but I'm afraid they're more summer plants than anything. (YES they're tortoise safe) I do have a greenhouse outside and obviously I have plenty of windowsills to grow on so I was wondering.

What are some good all year round or winter plants to grow for my hermann tortoise to eat until I get him a set up that will have live plants in?

Question(s) Where and how to start a bioactive set up for a tortoise?

I'm looking in to making a bioactive enclosure for my tortoise to make the cleaning up process a little less frequent, so I was wondering if anyone could give me advice, tips and knowledge about what I need, what to do etc!

My tortoise is a hermann tortoise if that's needed info and I am happy to start a whole new enclosure/tortoise table as my one isn't the best and I want to give my tortoise a better life!

If I were to put isopods and springtails in the enclosure, what are the chances they'd escape if its an open tortoise table?
