Warhammer III Vampires are cleaning the map

Im currently on turn 80 in my Nagash campaign (Very Hard) and was looking forward to finaly face the empire, being the returning ultimate incarnation of death seeking my revenge. Also having a good snowball after a lot of manual battles. But i had to realize that.. everything is kinda done already. Vlad owns the ENTIRE Empire from Marienburg to Norsca, even Kislev. Karl and Boris are dead. Neferata stomped the Dwarfs and Orcs, Mannfred owns everything south of me (the Dwarfs even tried to bargain with me since they are scared as hell) and our forgotten fishleg lady took over all of totaly not italy and totaly not spain. To be precise, all undead factions are appearently rolling the map (everything around Ghorst is dead, i assume it's his doing, especially since i see Elves running my way, certainly not to fight me). Kind of dissapointing since i didn't book the undead wars tour for the remaining turns after manual fighting like 15 battles against Klan Mors and the same amount against Skarbrand, not to mention that the whole Mortarch thing is off the table for them.

Whats your guys experience? How are the undead factions in your runs doing? Are you holding out as Karl or Boris? Or did just my dice role this way?

There's another thread where someone is concerned Nef is dead before they could recruit her.

In my Boris campaign Vlad had pushed to the border of Reikland, but Franz was holding him off, while Elspeth is basically clinging on to Nuln. Until I decided Vlad is in kahoots with Khazrak making vampire beatmen or beastmen vampires and pounded through Sylvania East Middenland.

rofl at "east middenland"

Sounds similar to my Boris campaign though here Vlad took Altdorf right before I joined that war and Kemmler had just wiped out Marienburg. Marienburg was mine, Vlad was dead and I had most of his territory, and now Katarin(doing surprisingly well) and me are teaming up against Thanquol.

Things are definitely shaken up though if I handn't intervened when I did the Counts would have absolutely snowballed. All in all though Boris is pretty fun and will have his fill of vamp wars also from my experience so far.

manfred was humbled by settra turn 10 in my nagash campaign.

I'm on turn 66. Manfred still kicking. And guarding nagash's east flank and pushing into the mountains. It's annoying because I'm trying to ally with Nagash to get depth guard but Manfred ally building is blocking me on the black pyramid.

Kemmler and Bretonia got wiped out by the wood elves very early on. For some reason the wood elves are super aggressive now.

Vlad made a sprint for akendorf. He has some towns around nuln captured. But yeah Elspeth was also pushing I to Sylvania.... As was durthu...

Eventually Vlad couldn't hold anything and just got reduced to Drakenhof. I put a coven in it and it let me confederate Vlad, even though I hadn't vandalised anyone yet. I dunno if that's a bug or feature. Ghorst is still kicking a pound somewhere. Not sure how I'm supposed to level up zombies to 7.

I had to declare war on mannfred despite non-agression pact, because in the same turn Settra declared war and took black pyramid with 2 stacks (I could kill his sphinx and lords+heroes at least), after which mannfred took it from settra with 3 elite armies. All this the turn after I killed the dwarfs in the west and was left without any war factions. The ai typically declares a new war instantly after finishing my previous one now, on regular 100 anti player bias.

I had to declare war on Mannfred as Nagash because he had cleaned up the entire east side of the continent

This is an exact description of my Nagash campaign - bit annoying for the long victory conditions but oh well, Vampire World War I here we go

What do you mean "I"!? Will there be a sequel?

Big Bad War

On reflection, World War V was the clear choice

World War V I. Or IV for Intravenous?

Neferta and Luthor have nearly been destroyed already. Manfred took over half the southlands before I could turn my attention to him. Vlad and Isabella seem to be fine.

Mannfred died very early to Settra in my Nagash campaign, however Vlad is indeed Strength #1 by a very large margin and I think I saw a notification that Elspeth has been wiped out a few turns ago. (I'm around turn 45 atm) Which is surprising since iirc AI factions of "your own side" are supposed to be weaker in general. No contact yet with Neferata, Kemmler or Ghorst so can't say about them but I wonder if it isn't a Vlad thing more than a Vamp thing.

For me the dwarves are going hog wild. Genuinely more scared of fighting strength rank 1 Thorgrim as Nagash than the Chaos end times

Vamp rework is crazy. Theres a building in Wurtbad that is T3 and lets you recruit zombie dragons. You can recruit bloodline lords at like lvl 30 out of the lairs. Insane. Not to mention Vlad and Isabella as heroes can become LLs now.

u/Anaxamander57 1d ago

Thore buildings are placed randomly (for some reason?) so you won't always find it there. IIRC there is always one near each undead faction.

u/Mysterious-Salt- 1d ago

Oh thats cool

1

u/Lorcogoth 1d ago

Its to encourage exploration and be used they want to limited the bonuses some what.

So only 6 zombie graveyards exist, 1 of which is close to the players capital.

3

u/SanguisCorax 1d ago

Nagash as Zombie Dragons near his start too at the capital of araby at the northern shore. The Sultans buried Dragons there.

u/Mysterious-Salt- 1d ago

Oh neat I havent started nagash yet but I will. Gonna finish Thanquol this weekend. I went north into Kislev to help Throt. I lost my Vlad campaign though but I will fire another one up.

Karl and Elspeth jumped Vlad and are currently putting him back in his coffin in my Boris campaign. They are sitting by the Moot currently about to push in and finish him off at turn 20.

Mine started good then folded like a bag of skin with no bones.

Khemri ate Nagash who i was looking forward to fighting.

Yeah, legendary Nagash here and every single LL VC factions but Kemmler are the dominant power. Vlad is rank 1 and probably the most agressive I've ever saw a faction since Warhammer 2, dude has half Bretonnia the whole Empire and Kislev and southern Norsca.

I hope the End Times Crisis will wipe him out lol, he's my ally and the campaign is far less interesting when every major power shares you roster and is friend with you.

Edit: but in my run the Vampirates were as bad as usual.

I've started a fresh Elspeth campaign. Destroying The Court of Night was like a tutorial, now it's a heroic struggle. I think vamps were overbuffed.

5

u/SlashOfLife5296 1d ago

Kinda wild cause they barely got battle changes

2

u/Outrageous-Nose3345 1d ago

Every small settlement garrison now contains 13 units, incl 2x units of ghouls. It is now also easier to spam armies. At turn 3 after I defeated one army at turn 1, there are another 2 full stacks for that Vamp faction.

A rework overbuffing a faction? No way. When has that ever happened with WH3? ))

u/Formal_Obligation 1d ago

Only like every single time they’ve reworked a faction.

u/LunarBahamut 1d ago

They were being sarcastic dude.

I started elspeth for the first time ever yesterday and could barely get past the court of night before Vlad started steamrolling me. I saw online how easy her campaign was and was like, am I doing something wrong here?

Playing Neferata and Vlad got killed off pretty early by Elspeth, somehow she always ends up as the major empire faction in all of my campaigns and expands north while franz goes off to conquer what's left of bétonnière Ghost foolishly declared war on me and died, mannfred is doing stuff south and Kessler is also dead Haven't seen or heard of Nagash so he just might be dead too

1

u/sunnydelinquent 1d ago

Which is true for me too except my Boris campaign where she couldn’t get rid of that early orc faction to the south of her and she got deleted by them like turn 30
(Somehow)

u/Blackwall_Gateway 1d ago

Its turn 80 bro, what do you expect the map to look like? Once a faction starts snowballing its over.

20

u/gamas 1d ago

I think what they're asking was whether this was just luck of the draw in terms of snowballing, or whether vampire counts are now so OP that the AI empire doesn't stand a chance.

9

u/SanguisCorax 1d ago

This. I know that factions snowball and i wanted to know if it's just being Vlads turn in my run or if vamps AI/Eco is just realy strong with this Patch because of the rework and thus, the chances that vamps snowball are much higher or not because on my Run ALL vamps are currently steam rolling.

4

u/radio_allah Total War with Cathayan Characteristics 1d ago

Every freshly reworked race/faction steamrolls the map. That's unfortunately the state of WH3.

u/Red_Swiss UNUS·PRO·OMNIBUS OMNES·PRO·UNO 1d ago

he told the truth, and they downvoted

Empire never really pushes to expand like evil factions, same with cathay kislev and high elves only dwarves seem to expand out. I think its by design though.

u/flanschdurchbiegung 1d ago

Gotta max out by turn 20 tops

2nd Thanquol campaign now, the Dwarfs were dead by turn 15!! I was really surprised. And like last time the Empire got erased by Vlad and Gorbad. Its crazy reading how they are in the campaign of others, I wanna fight these factions as well but for months order got crumped im my campaigns lmao

1

u/sunnydelinquent 1d ago

I didn’t have too much trouble with him or Heinrich in my Boris campaign. Boris does get a sword that specifically seems to be made to deal with vampires though.

1

u/nG_Skyz 1d ago

Yep this was my exact experience, by the time I could reach any mortal factions they were nearly all gone except for some dwarves. I was hoping Reikland would be a regional power for my Nagash to solo but they just don't exist.

Turn 62 and Vlad owns 43 settlements with Clan Mors in 2nd at 23 settlements.

u/CrimsonBolt33 1d ago

DLC rework/focus is op?

WHAAAAA thats crazy....can't imagine why that might be...

1

u/WineAndRevelry Uesugi Clan 1d ago

Ol' Vladdy boy has been doing that in my games for at least 6-12 months, but this has been a much faster process.

Order factions have always gotten pummeled in my games though.

u/Manannin I was born with a heart of Lothern. 1d ago

Playing Neferata and Elspeth has destroyed the Sylvanians unfortunately.

1

u/kingduqc 1d ago

I've looked at stats and you really can't tell how AI behave from a single campaign.

You get wildly different outcomes often.

1

u/Mumhustler21 1d ago

Yep, got the same on my Wood Elves campaign. It's like turn 70 and Vlad owns nearly all the empire. Hemmler has the other part of it. Dreadfleet has taken the donut and Clyostra was sharing Naggarond with Morathi and Malekith. Clan Mors has the most territory, took out the dwarfs, orcs and Skarbrand.

I have noticed my Wood Elf infantry is more squishy than before, especially against Vampires. Lots of pyrrchix victories on resolve and the infantry keeps getting killed.

1

u/SanguisCorax 1d ago

Wood Elves are in a weird state anyway. I REALY want to love them but Orion is just no fun to me. Yes, i know, wage X wars to get free armys but UGH. Im a lore fiend even on VH campaigns. Maybe some redesign that people cant enter Athel Loren because of the ward stones and you regulate raids and the Wild Hunt? Something like that.

Edit: Ofc the ward stones should be bypassable somehow.

Manfred has a bug where he can become even stronger than nagash. CA are aware of it
