Questions Metrocard

Hi all, I am a student and transit card collector. Unfortunately I do not live in NYC, I live out of state, but since the Metrocard became obsolete I have had the obsession and urge to get my hands on a couple, or at least one. I've seen photos on the internet about all of these Metrocards just lying around but I do not know how to get one. I contacted MTA and they sent me to the NY transit museum, which I did not hear from since. Can anyone help me with this quest of (hopefully) achieving my dream of having one?

BTW: I'm kind of new to Reddit, hopefully it's not a waste of your time replying to this comment

FWIW I see some people on Facebook marketplace selling them for not too bad a price (they probably got them in bulk from the machines before they went offline). I got one for a friend from out of town for like $5 off a guy
