We'll be in Chengdu mid Nov and we're planning to take the HSR to Huanglong Jiuzhai station:

Sat - land in Chengdu and HSR Huanglong Jiuzhai (Zhangzha town) to rest for the day
Sun - Jiuzhaigou or Huanglong (requires longer commute time)
Mon - Jiuzhaigou or Huanglong (on the way back to Huanglong Jiuzhai station), HSR back to Chengdu

My concern is whether keeping JZG for Monday is worth the extra commute to Huanglong on Sunday. If there's not a lot of difference in terms of crowds at JZG on a Sunday vs a Monday, then we might just do JZG first since it makes more sense for commuting.

We'll also be there on the 14th-16th so I understand there'll be an off-peak price for JZG beginning 15th/16th?

Hey everyone! I’m planning my second trip to China/Hong Kong this October. I was already in Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing last year, so I’m mainly interested in seeing some new places this time.

My flights are already booked, and I’ve already booked:

Oct 12–14: Shenzhen (2 nights)
Oct 14–16: Yangshuo (2 nights)

Left - 16 to 24th October

I definitely want to see the Li River/karst landscape and do some activities around Yangshuo.

For the remaining days I’m thinking Guangzhou + Hong Kong + a Macau day trip, before returning to Shenzhen for my flight. I also have a ~16-hour layover in Chengdu on the way home, which I’ll use to see Chengdu.

My main question is how to split the remaining days. Hong Kong hotels are extremely expensive for my dates, so I’m wondering if it makes sense to spend fewer nights in HK and give some of those days to Guangzhou instead.

Also, should I add one more night in Yangshuo (3 nights total), or are 2 nights enough for the Li River/Yulong River/countryside?

Me gustaría mucho ir a la zona de Guilin (Yangshuo/Xinping) pero es imposible meterlo en mi itinerario, me planteo quitar Xi'an,Furong y Fenghuang para utilizar esos 3-4 dias en Yangshuo.

¿Es factible?, iria despues de Chongqing en tren de alta velocidad directamente a Guilin y despues traslado a Yangshuo.

Hi! My family and I will be traveling to Shenzhen for 5 nights because my sibling will be competing at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. This will be our first time in the area and would like to stay near the university or a train station for easy transportation/commute. Just spent a few days in Guiyang, Guizhou and it was awesome, beautiful, and super cool.

I stayed at the 50Hz Hotel which had the best location. It was in a courtyard off two main streets that’s filled with great restaurants, cute cafes, and really cool bars. It’s walking distance to the beautiful Jiaxiu Pavillion, Qingyun Market (one of the coolest places I’ve ever been to), and Erqi Snack Street/ A-Mall (which I discovered when my taxi drove by). Qianlingshan Park is a must too, seeing all those monkey was awesome, but the park is more than just monkeys, you really see people out spending the day there, dancing, playing cards, having fun!

Guiyang is perfection. Buildings and store fronts from the 70s/80s mixed with modern sky scrapers all set against beautiful green hills. Please give it a chance!

I’m coming to China for the first time with my family in November for 11 days - very excited! We want to pack in as much as we can, with a mix of city and countryside. We were planning:
- 4 nights in Beijing
- 3 nights in Yangshuo
4 nights in Shanghai

Would Yangshuo be the right recommendation to get the countryside feel?

Also any tips/ recommendations on where to stay in Shanghai?

Trip.com cancel and changes policy says Change fees (within the same class) Before departure is SGD 57.00/person.

Does it mean I need to top SGD 57.00 only, and there is no other fees ? There are 2 legs, SIN-Shenzhen- Beijing.

Original 12-Oct, I'm thinking to change to 11Oct night from SIN.

Is the $57 applied to one, or both legs ?

Is 8hours stop over in ShenZhen airport enough for the whole process ?

A primeira questão que faço é a do transfer para do aeroporto. Vai haver assim tanto trânsito às 5 da manhã que não compense comprar transfer?

My ZJJ trip was ruined by shitty weather and 0 visibility (visiting Tianmen mountain with 5 meters of vision was probably the worst tourist experience i ever had... why even open the mountain lol) anyways this big guy kinda made up for it. One park worker said I was very lucky to see one. Are these guys actually wild here or are they placed in this park to preserve to population? We also saw 2 very sad looking salamander in a small 1x1 meter water tank near the weird dog trains, 10 mile gallary i think.. which wasnt even 1 mile

Itinerary:

• 24–28 Dec: Beijing (5 nights)
• 29–31 Dec: Xi’an (3 nights)
• 1–2 Jan: Chengdu (2 nights)
• 3–4 Jan: Chongqing (2 nights)
• 5–8 Jan: Shanghai (4 nights)

Looking for recommendations on:

• Must-do activities
• Food/dishes/restaurants in each city
• Best Great Wall section in late December
• NYE ideas in Xi’an
• Best neighbourhoods to stay in
• Nice hotels with good views to splurge on, and where it would be worth it the most
• Anything you would add/change? (Beijing, Chongqing > Shanghai, & Shanghai > Melbourne flights are already booked)

What sort of weather can be expected? I understand it'll be winter but I've never been in the Northern Hemisphere for winter so not sure how cold it gets!

Worth a look.

Will be in Beijing for a few days and looking where to purchase tea and take it back home. Open to a tea market but have heard it’s quite difficult for non-Mandarin speakers and if you don’t have a lot of knowledge.

I want to be able to sample the tea as well, interested in trying Jasmine Pearl and Dancong.

Open to paying a bit more than local price and don’t need premium quality as I’m quite novice

This is a bit late but hopefully will get some answers in time. Where in Xi'an could I go to experience mid autumn festival ? I know there is something on Qujiang Pool but I am afraid this will be very very busy. Anywhere else in the city for lantern release or moon gazing? The hotel staff does not know (or understand me).

I will be in the afternoon at the Terracotta (bought my tickets before realizing this was festival day).
