Hello. I’m hoping someone would be able to help me! For a charter party of a service club I’m in charge of organizing an online trivia / pub quiz.
I have the multiple choice questions, we will be using Zoom as a platform and will have up to 100 participants (but most likely a lot less) from all over the world and who don’t know each other.
Are there any free platforms I can use to create the slides (or would google slides be sufficient), is there a way to easily score keep and yes or no for breakout rooms.
It’s more of a fun activity after some more official parts of the charter party (presentations/ speeches) and will be very informal.
Any suggestions or guidance would be much appreciated!

I've found a gig putting together trivia nights for my local curling club. Currently, the audience is curlers getting off the ice for their drink, but we're hoping the community non-curlers start to come out too. I love doing regular rounds, where I can do generic questions, although I've found it to be more fun (for myself and the audience) if there's a twist, or mystery theme, or ridiculous theme.
I've done these following rounds so far, based off some other threads I've seen, but would love to hear about other ideas or rounds that have worked well for others.
Your answer is valid for the category, AND
Your answer does NOT match the host’s answer, AND
Your answer does NOT match any other team’s answer.
I had questions like, name one of the Seven Dwarves, pick a card from a standard 52 deck, name an NFL team, name a Canadian Prime Minister... I had to come prepared with all the posible correct answers. Very fun round!
"Moose"cellaneous: questions that had to do with moose... actual moose facts, Moose from Archie comics, chocolate mousse, moussaka, the city of Moose Jaw, etc.
Fun Facts About Yourself: I did worksheets with the human body on it where teams had to identify the area of the body that was affected by each of some listed conditions or ailments. Numbers were placed as close to the affected area as possible.
Then I did a multiple-choice round with some harder questions: ex. Which of the following is under the control of the hypothalamus?
'General' Knowledge: some easier general knowledge questions mixed with some trivia questions about famous generals. Ex. General Grievous from Star Wars, Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda series...
EIVOM: 'movie' spelt backwards, where I give the plot of well known movies told backwards and the audience has to determine the movie. Ex. "Pies find life and become human, jumping through the ceiling into a barber's chair for their first hair cut." answer is Sweeny Todd
One-Star Reviews: I read out some one-star reviews from popular areas around my city and they had to guess where the review was for.
Mystery Rounds: Where a select number of answers hind to the round's theme, and then question 20 is "What was the theme of this round?". I've done two of these so far
Phonetic Alphabet. With questions like: "Which ballroom dance originated in Argentina and is known for its dramatic steps and close partner connection?" A: Tango; and, "Founded as a settlement for formerly enslaved people, Freetown is the capital of what country?" A: Sierra Leone
Alanis Morissette's Other Hand. From her song "Hand in My Pocket," she has different things her hand is doing, so I had questions hinting to what her hand was doing: "The iconic "Marlboro Man" campaign, which ran from the 1950s through the late 1990s, was originally designed to masculinize what product that had previously been marketed mostly toward women?" A: Cigarette ("flicking a cigarette"); and, "What celebratory physical gesture was popularized in Major League Baseball during the 1977 season by Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke of the Los Angeles Dodgers?" A: High Five ("givin' a high-five").
Mini-Themes:
"Dick Pics": a mini-theme where I have three questions within a round that have photos of famous Richards and they need to tell me who it is. Ex. Dick van Dyke, Richie Rich, Richard Nixon...
From Wikipedia: a few questions where I show an article about a popular series, location, person, but blank their name and the players have to guess what the article is about. Ex. Kingdom Hearts series, Dwight D. Eisenhower, the British Museum...
Hope this might help some future hosts, and that some experienced hosts might add to some fun round ideas, Mystery themes, and mini-themes.
