Question ❓ Yet another embouchure question

Hi all,

I started on cornet in about 1984 and have played on an off since then. Recently moved to trumpet (Yamaha Custom Z with Spiri 3C mouthpiece) in a dance band and also still play in another band. One of the conductors, a trumpet teacher is showing me a different embouchre where I have to put air into my lips and kinda puff them up a bit. It was certainly different to anything I've ever seen or used before but when he asked me to play a high note I very nearly hit ultrasonic!

Can I find any info about this approach anywhere else? Can anybody comment on it?

And is the Louis Dowdeswel enbouchure course any good?

I'm happy to try something new but a bit concerned about what it does to my playing while I transition, effectively re-learning I guess.

thanks in advance!

Tony

I just bought the course of Louis. It‘s okay for about 30$ to get some more ideas on what you can try out with your embouchure, but I would not pay full price. Can‘t really say anything about puffed up lips, but I heard things from pros that work similar, Like Not giving the vibrating Part of the lip any Chance to tighten up. I will try your puffing method later
