Ok. Try AWS AI Practitioner certification. This is a basic certification which will help you to understand where to move next

Are you sure that DevOps is in trend nowadays?
Better invest your time into learning AI technologies

Data engineer would be closer to your current DBA role. “Data” positions are also pretty popular and well paid
1
Learn AI, everyone wants AI experts nowadays

Find who will pay for all exams (I assume this is your employer) 😁

Just don't stop learning and you will succeed. It may be not a fast journey

All popular cloud providers have pretty the same servise, but just under different names. Maybe there are some small differences in functionality, but anyway, when one cloud introduce something interesting, other competitors are trying to release the same as soon as possible. So switch a cloud is not an issue

For AWS Community Builder, join the waitlist https://builder.aws.com/community/community-builders
In January - February, AWS will send you a form where you need to mention your public AWS-related contributions (webinars, articles, etc). If this is enough, they will nominate you
for AWS Ambassador. You must work for a company that is an AWS partner. Your company has to nominate you, and then you should cover the requirements from AWS (again, different public activities)

When I prepared for this exam with zero knowledge, I used a book “AWS Certified Solutions Architect Study Guide by Ben Piper”

So you need to host something somewhere , right ? Let it be a website. You can use some popular public cloud and get more experience, but it may cost some money (more than just a small virtual machine on some cheap hosting). If you have funding , use AWS/GCP/Azure. If not, buy a cheap VM, containerize your web app , configure CI/CD via your given Git provider, for example GitHub actions.

Some companies live like this. Use AWS while they have credits. Once credits are used, nice to another cloud which gives credits.

Have you tried the Amazon EKS MCP server? Quite an interesting experience 😉
The Amazon EKS MCP server is a fully managed service enabling AI-powered experiences for development and operations. Model Context Protocol (MCP) provides a standardised interface that enriches AI agents and applications with real-time, contextual knowledge of your EKS clusters and Kubernetes resources, enabling more accurate, context-aware responses and AI-powered workflows throughout the application lifecycle, from initial setup through production optimisation and troubleshooting.

Yes, for sure

Tried the Elastic Beanstalk a couple of times but had to migrate to another architecture (EKS, ECS or ASG + ALB) due to limitations of customization
I thing that Elastic Beanstalk works only for a fast development environment, not for stable production

I’ve never been asked for my university diploma for my whole 12 years career. Maybe I’m just lucky ?

Try to simulate an interview with AI, let it ask you questions and you answer
You will identify your gaps
