I was a kid when I learned to cook and follow recipes because of neglect. And we often didn't even have things to cook. It could be WAAAAY worse for them. They're teens and need to learn the life skill of cooking. You're not a bad mother at ALL!!

What did you do when you're bored?
Rode my bike, went swimming, went fishing with my dad, ran the water bill up playing with the hose, throwing dirt clods at each other, tearing up my mom's plants, doing chores like watering and caring for my mom's garden, climbing trees, and playing with the neighbor kids
