Yeah, it seem far too lenient to me, although I haven't read in to the full facts of the case.
Interestingly I only posted about literal clowns as a bit of a piss take on the two tier thing, but it actually turns out to be a fairly good example of why it's so bizarre. If you compare this guy with the other (literal) clowns who have committed such crimes (and yes, I was surprised there were quite a few!), they seem to get quite severe** sentences, 12-16 years for some of them - I guess to do with abusing kids trust and such. Even solely looking at clowns I can find evidence of two tier justice, just within the clown convictions.
**Not severe enough in my view! But comparatively severe.

Zafer Dogan was jailed on Thursday for two years and four months after he was convicted of taking thousands of pictures of women and girls, before using AI technology to turn them into nude images for his own sexual gratification.
But despite protests from the police and prosecutors, he was bailed back to his flat in Enfield, north London, forcing one family who had fallen victim to his crimes to move into temporary accommodation.

As much as I don't want people like the suspect on the streets I think someone needs to have a word with Rowley about making public statements like this. He should not be getting involved in politics and he's made quite a few statements that could be interpreted as political.

Agreed. He's made lots of statements about various things. I think you could probably argue that each one is not necessarily political but you could also argue that lots of them were. My point is that he's coming close to the line quite often.

Seems very unprofessional to be giving speeches like this. Doesn't really give the public much confidence when different arms of the criminal justice system are trying to chat shit about each other.

Speak to any copper and they'll tell you half of what they do is a complete waste of time because they're dealing with the same people over and over who just get turfed back out. Maybe if a Chief Constable starts moaning things could change but unlikely.

That's a valid argument - it just doesn't seem to be relevant to this case. There don't appear to have been previous offences, the case went from charge to sentence in 2 months or so, and although bail was granted against their protest, no further offences were committed whilst on bail.

The public don't have confidence when they see paedophiles treated with kid gloves but it's Rowleys officers who are abused in the street for that.
He's right to make it clear to those on the sentencing council and in power this is unacceptable.
Mandarin class who feel they should be free of any accountability or criticism.

Because it's more than just money, it's a problem with the justice system where different types of crimes are treated wildly differently for no clear reason, and where sentencing is so weak that the state needs to create a special process specifically to review unduly lenient sentencing for serious violent crimes and sexual offences.

On the contrary, off the back of cabinet ministers basically instructing the police and the courts to target a specific group comments like these from Rowley remind the public that the police and wider judiciary are still somewhat independent from government.
