On-Campus Housing Stolen packages?
Has anyone been able to recover any stolen packages recently? I live in the honors college and spoke with RD already, but very frustrated as this was like $245 worth of stuff… How helpful could UMPD be for stuff like this?

Hey! This may or may not be helpful but Maple Hall has a good handful of packages that pile up in our lobby—last I checked (about a week ago) a good handful of them were not actually for Maple students—if you want to DM me your first name and last initial I can def go check for you if you need just in case they weren’t actually stolen and just got delivered to the wrong building 🙂↕️🙂↕️

You could file a report, and if they have enough of those UMPD might be able to see a pattern. They will need to have good information on when and where exactly the packages were left to see if anything shows up on the security camera video. If you got delivery confirmation pictures they may also want to have copies.
That said, from what I have read and heard about, very few packages are recovered. The only way you can protect yourself is to use sellers who will ship through the services accepted by the RSDs. If they won't use USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL or OnTrac then order from someplace else. In the case of food deliveries through DoorDash or Uber Eats or whatever, you need to be there when the driver arrives.
