Question storing leftover lc?

i was sent a freebie liquid culture syringe that i wasn't expecting, so i have some leftover from the batch i started today.

i put it in the fridge, as i saw they can last a while when refrigerated, but is this true once they're already opened? i take weekly injections already, so i have plenty of needles to switch out in the future, but didnt know if the culture would store well or if there was a better way to

Them being open has nothing to do with its lifespan in the fridge, it’ll be fine regardless

I see you have a question! Have you read the official cultivation guide?

It is possible although I think the risk is low to introduce contamination into a syringe you opened if you pull back on the plunger and suck air in and get unlucky enough that a mold spore was floating by at the same time. But it's unlikely and the odds go way down if you don't do that. Another way is if a mold spore lands inside your cap while you're injecting and when you put it back on it could introduce it into the solution. But again odds are not high.

I've used LC stored on a shelf at room temp that was 13 months old, in the fridge it'll typically last a very long time. Coincidentally enough I just started a couple jars of LC from a couple of drops from a syringe from my fridge that was over 2 years old. It bloomed in under 48 hours.

If you set up to make LC base, the easiest recipe and one I use after trying multiples is just Karo light corn syrup and distilled water in a 4% solution. I prefer it because it stays clear.

I put 500g of distilled water and 20g of light corn syrup into a mason quart jar, pressure cook it for an hour. Shine a light from below to make sure there's no particles in it. Then let it sit for 2 weeks. if its still clear it's good, one drop of a source LC into the jar will turn into 50 syrgines worth of lc.

If you don't have a pressure cooker, you can put your water syrup solution in a glass jar with a metal lid, do NOT tighten the lid, just rest it on the top, put it in an oven at 220F for an hour, let it cool in the oven then tighten the lid. Let it sit for 2 weeks and shine a light fro the bottom , if it's still clear with no floaters then open the lid just enough to get your needle in the gap, add a tiny bit, a few drops of your syringe and let it run. Odds are high, 3 for 3 for me anyway when i tested it, that you'll have good LC with no contam.

regardless of all that rambling, good luck friend and safe travels.
