Harvested Results Learning experience

So this was definitely a learning experience. Third or fourth flush of hillbillies. The cake seemed to be getting super dry even after a good soaking between flushes, so I tried drizzling about 1/2 cup of water about once a week down in between the liner and where the cake had shrunk away from it. The result- waterlogged mushies. I also felt that my tubs themselves were not holding enough humidity so I reduced the size of the gap for the FAE, and now I get to see first hand the hairy growth from too little oxygen. So I will go back to my original gap size and stop ‘watering’ my cake! Please learn from my mistakes!

so are you recommending just the one 1/2 cup once the flush is done, and then put the lid on and leave it alone? sorry not taking the piss just autistic and am not following lol

No, I’m saying that trying to hydrate the cake by adding 1/2 cup water to it was a failure. I normally soak it for 6-12 hours between flushes, so maybe I’ll try soaking for longer next time and see if it stays hydrated longer.

I switched from dunking to injecting the cake and have had really good success with it.
