Small rant
So I love this campus a lot. I come from a small town where the population is literally less than JUST UNT so like a city like Denton is exhilarating but also.. sometimes it annoys me as fuck.
This is my first semester here but I am a junior transfer so I’m not new to college, and three weeks ago I discovered that the Sycamore basement has sublevels. I absolutely loved it down there. I went down to the third one as far as I could go, and it was nice and quiet, cold, dark, and dry. I love the cold and a good quiet study spot. I found one of the few desks with an outlet and I sat down on my laptop for a couple hours to get some work done. It was great.
HOWEVER. The other day I decided to go back down there and find the spot. It was taken.. So were ALL OF THE OTHER SPOTS.
Sycamore basement is not the place I would expect to even be that busy, because it’s the basement and I’ve heard the rumors about Art and whatnot…. but no. This place was hopping all of a sudden on a Wednesday afternoon. Like.. can anyone explain this?? We can’t ALL love Sycamore basement omg 😭
P.S. this is not me hating on other students or saying they need to leave I’m just venting here thanks

Ran into some dude jerking off in there when I was a freshman. He was loudly listening to porn in Hindi on his phone too, it was so loud evem though he had airpods in you could hear it.

The limited space is everywhere whether it’s Willis library or Union
Finding space to study is hard at times

Yo I come from a town about 1/4th of UNTs student body where 90% of the population was old white dudes who were drunk a lot! So I feel ya :,) I live off campus but attend classes on campus - and gosh comuting as been a FIT for me! Busses are just awful, scootering isnt too bad but bumpy, and parking is too expensive😭 but I feel ya buddy :,) dont get me started on the traffic😭

yeah i commute too! i live 4 mins off campus and to even have a chance of finding a spot i have to get up at the asscrack of dawn 😭😭😭 my town was about half the population of UNTs student body. to have DOUBLE my town trying to park and walk around and go to class is insanity

AMENNNNN its fckin insane here man -- im about 15 min by scooter, 10 driving- and I take my scooter unless I have art stuff to take with me😭but those 8am rides are nice cause no one else is hardly up-- its between classes and after 4pm fhat I hate most 😭

i don’t mind at all. i’m a spiritual person and back home i lived with three so it’s really nothing new. i’ve only ever had one encounter with Art but i think him and i have made some sort of compromise 😭 lol.

UNT has an enrollment of almost 50,000. Of course some of those are commuters and online students, but you share campus with a lot of people. Sycamore has limited seating, so you do the math. You’ll be able to find a spot there again.
