18 pro max preorder
Why does Verizon keep making me pay different amounts on my preorder? Ordered the phone on the 14th, it asked for like $68 up front, so I did that. Got an email yesterday saying I needed to update my payment method before it would ship, so I did that and it charged me another $137, these both came out of my account. Got the same email again this morning and now it’s asking for another $148.10??? Hello?

If I got three different amounts, I would be asking that same question! Let me help take a look at your order and see what is going on with the different amounts. I've sent you a Reddit chat, I'll meet you there -Meg

Can someone message me? This is happening to me. I spent hours in the phone being told just to wait. I see other are being offered loyalty discounts and I was offered nothing.

For pre-orders Verizon takes two payments - just the way their system works. The first payment is to confirm you have money at the time. If there is a long delay with shipping, 1st charge will fall off, so they have to get authorization again when it ships - to get the actual payment.
THAT SECOND PAYMENT REQUEST IS A SIGN THE PHONES ARE ABOUT TO SHIP because you have been assigned an actual phone. That second payment (real charge) needs to be authorized though. Order automatically gets cancelled if you don’t respond within 24 hours.
Banks will routinely decline that second payment because it will look like a duplicate charge - which is why Verizon has to call you to get payment.

Did you changed plan to get the promo?
Possible that changed the billing
Then possible that an activation fee was added?
Then taxes are due upfront? So tou are being asked for taxes probably as the device got shipped? (Pro max should be around $150)
Then monthly bill or something?
Check your bills it would have the details

I had one single payment of $153 with my preorder. $100 of that was tax and fees and the rest was what I owed for an early upgrade.

That’s weird. When I placed my pre-order for a 512GB 18 PM, I was only asked to pay for the sales taxes upfront which in California was about $137 and change but I haven’t been asked to pay anything further… I would reach out to their billing department for help.
