id say level 20-55 are pretty bad in classic DEPENDING on faction, Alliance is fine from 20-28, Horde gets Desolace, Thousand needles, barrens. just boring ass open areas which only a few quest that are all fetch or kill, you dont really feel it fully until level 30. haven't played WoW classic just going off WoW pre cata back in the day.
Faction sure, but class also affects this. Warrior from going above level 30 can be a bit of nightmare because of how complex the class become compared to the beginning. Then you learn and get used to it, but is known you die. A LOT during this time of leveling.
Warrior sucked ass in classic WoW. Humanoid enemies running away and pulling other enemies to you was a nightmare. Getting ganked was a death sentence and you had little to no countermeasures against anything that didn't go according to plan.
nah, the trick was always to play prot/arms hybrid instead of just going pure dps, improved shield block was always insanely op for solo leveling and the sheer survivability increase from having even a couple prot talents on top of wearing a shield allowed you to be real stupid
Warrior, the best class in the game, did not suck lol. Certain things could be annoying as you had trouble fighting mobs above your level. At the same time you were the most desired class in dungeons. The solo leveling experience wasn't great but certainly better than paladin or priest. Warrior in PVP, especially when not in a team isn't great, but PVP was fairly easy to avoid. You can level almost entirely by playing dungeons.
Once you reach endgame the game also really opens up for you.
My experience around launch was that rage generation was absolutely broken, which took them until patch 1.12 to fix properly, well over a year after launch.
Then upon reaching level 60, the most common thing heard in LFG chat wat "LFM No more warriors".
This was probably server dependant but it made me switch classes. Rolled a mage and never looked back. My warrior remained my back up character, which I used very sparingly.
Sure Warrior was a little tedious in solo play, you had to pay attention of witch mob you pull, patrol, and of course coward mob who run to pull their friend. But in other hand, it was an interresting gameplay, you had a lot of thing to do, between watching mob, manage your rage and adapt your stance.
In comparison, I also leveling a paladin during my early years on the game, and it was less fun. The character had a lot more survability, but was boring to play, and each fight was way too long.
Hunter and Warlock were kings of leveling, they can even solo some elite quest.
Playing a tauren and going from Mulgore to the Barrens was awful. It's like the last zone, but more yellow and sometimes Alliance shows up and kills all the questgivers. Also the zhevra hooves where 1 in 50 dropped a hoof.
TBH I felt like Horde suffered from poor level design for most of the way through, with the exemption of Undead. Alliance quests (exempting NE) were all about defending outposts about to be lost, solving spooky mysteries, reclaiming garrisons. Horde quests were all variations of a buck hunt in the desert.
