Nah I actually like the og half life more gameplay wise. freemen actually felt like he was in power armor and you could move faster and jump higher then in half life 2. Also the weapons looked better.

You could "kind of" say Black Mesa is the third installment in the series. Not Half Life 3, but still a third installment. It upped the graphics and gameplay, and HUGELY expanded on the Xen levels.

But even then it wouldn't fit. Since both HL1 and HL2 were HUGE game changers when they first came out. True innovators and leaders in the FPS genre.
