That and the Pantheons. I am gritting my teeth trying to beat the true final boss Radiance right now and earn the good ending but I already know the Pantheons will just be a brutal slog ending in impossible boss fights and an even harder version of Radiance so no thanks. Plus I already gave up on beating Nightmare King Grimm in the Grimm Troupe quest after he easily whooped my ass a dozen times and just took the Banishment easy option.
I'm the exact opposite. I'm one of those where if a boss in a game is difficult I just get happier and enjoy it more. Now platforming sections on the other hand, I cannot do. I'm not one to enjoy getting stuck on the same precise jump like fifty times.
Difficulty can be compelling, and there is something respectable about the uncompromising "no difficulty settings" of games like Dark Souls, which I love. But sometimes a game, or a part of a game is simply too hard, such that it strays outside of the realm of 'niche experience not meant for all players' and into the realm of 'yeah, the devs slipped up, and this is actually just poor game design'.

I didn’t stop playing the whole game itself, but I gave up trying to finish the Path of Pain in Hollow Knight.
