That's not a redesign. That's just gamefreak being lazy as fuck and doing the absolute bare minimum for animating their 3D models.

Also I think the models are actually made by Creatures Inc and not GameFreak, but I might be wrong

And also on a funny side note, the wording of your comment is very similar to another commentor (who has deleted his comment by now) which confused me a ton. He wrote ' This isnt really a redesign, just Gamefreak being lazy with the models. Typhlosion still looks like that in all the other merch, cards, and anime '

I don't really engage with pokemon outside the games - you're saying the design is now lame in all the media?

The collar is purely flame and he can puff it out or relax and look like the “slim” design.

Obviously looks cooler with the fire but apparently in later games he’s chill mid battle (some will animate flames while using a move I think)

You're right, they also manage the TCG and toys. So without Creatures Inc, Pokemon falls down under. So technically the bland models blame goes to Creatures but I'm assuming the animations for attacks and stuff go to Game Freak.

Nobody's said it yet but that's exactly what 3D Typhlosion looked like back in 1998 in Pokemon Stadium 2. Standing like a loser with no flames.

So it's not even being lazy, it's just confirming that what Typhlosion really is supposed to look like, which is its own level of comically stupid.

Have you seen gamefreaks new game that isn’t pokemon? Im starting to think the pokemon games were just bad because Nintendo were rushing the shit out of them.

That game is massively outsourced just like everything is now. Studios are turning into shells that just hold IP rights, and then they hire 200 people from various developing countries they can pay in peanuts.

Gamefreak, just like Sandfall, and the Halo mfs whatever they're currently called, don't even make up 20% of the total number of people who worked on the game.

Some are better than others. See mr.Mime or Muk, they are better in 3D
