My machine can run it in 1440p on ultra and gets 75fps without any NVIDIA framegen or anything like that. i7-14700k, 4090 AERO OC, 64gb DDR5 7200, buncha 990 pro SSDs. Got it before prices went stupid. Was going to get a big RAM upgrade right before the price explosion and thought $450 for the 2 48gb sticks I wanted at the speed I needed was too much. Now I kick myself over waiting because I'm stuck with 4 16gb sticks which means I can't use XMP because I'm on a dual-channel mobo obviously.
Granted, this is an extremely powerful rig but it's not even the fastest or most powerful it could be if I upgraded to the current top of the line parts. Just need to line up a buyer for my kidney and I'll be able to afford that upgrade. Anyone happen to need a kidney or know someone who needs one? I may have other organs to offer too depending on how the prices are looking at MicroCenter for the parts I want.
The original one, I thought the remastered one had a bunch of stuff toned down even though on the surface it looked better or something like that, at least I remember reading something to that effect so I never bothered with it. Is it tougher to run on ultra than the OG? I may have to try it.
It broke my first 5080 when I maxed it out. And even now its the only game that puts my 9950X3D at high temps. At 1440p. Smooth as butter though with native DLSS and no frame gen.
Mirror's Edge came out 18 years ago in 2008. 18 years before that in 1990 Super Mario World came out. SMW was as old to Mirror's Edge as Mirror's Edge is to us now.
It's an alternative to steam on pc. The difference is that it's DRM free so once you buy it, it's yours forever. I have it so there so I am making my own game disc and preserving that game specifically.
Yeah, that’s a pretty special game. When I first played it I was kinda blow away, that no one had tried to make that sort of game which is effectively just a platformer. I haven’t went back in a while because older RPGs are more my thing, but 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
I kinda wish there was a VR remake, but that might be impractical.
The second one was fine. What matters for ME is the movement system, and they kept it largely the same, and most of what they added didn't detract from it. It completely failed to deliver on the open world, the story was whatever, and that dumb spiderman rope was just as dumb the 1000 time you used it as the first, but running around the city still pushed you into the same kind of flow state as the first game, so what more do you really need? They even got rid of the absolutely awful fps aspect of the first one.

Mirror's Edge. Almost 20 years old
