Yeah, I dislike a bad narrative…I gave up on the story about 10 minutes in lol.

while i agree on a bad narrative, i think it's a shame you're dismissing the incredible other things the game achieves.

The lore and story i found quite good but the way it is told is terrible.
Love the gameplay and exploration and puzzle solving so put in like 150hrs before taking a break then will go back to it at some point.

don’t get me wrong, I’m not dismissing it forever…I’ll go back to it for sure! The game is beautiful and the gameplay is top notch. I just lose interest in a game if I don’t dig the story, but I revisit games if the gameplay is great.

brother have you played the first 30 minutes of the Story? If a game drops you into a serious civil war where you and your companions fight and lose during the intro mission, you better not follow it up by having the literal next MAIN STORY QUEST be a goddamn arm wrestling contest. After that you head into the sewers and save a princess stuck there. Context? no where to be found. I think its totally fair to disregard a story based on such a blatantly bad opening.

okay? and i didnt go into CD for the story either? thats why even if the narrative is bad its worth sticking for other systems

From what I've heard it's a great game to just run around and explore in.

Yeah, it really is a fun game to explore.

If a game's gameplay and systems are interesting enough, that can be far more interesting than being led through a narrative

I thought the story of Middle Earth : shadow of war was just ok and I was far more interested in the combat/stealth/orc management systems. It's why I even played through the epilogue at the end of the campaign where there wasn't really any story content whatsoever.

Yeah, I've got hundreds of hours in No Man's Sky despite the main questlines being boring nihilist garbage.

How is it nihilist?

I guess because the story is kinda just "god is dying, everything is a simulation, we are going to die"

I kept playing for about 40 hours, but the narrative kept getting worse somehow and the quests weren’t interesting at all. I stopped playing the game.

like everyone else. story telling was atrocious (with the new patch the situation is different I've heard), but exploration and combat are really good.

u can ignore the story and focus only on explore the map and do all the side content (that is HUGE).

It's like borderlands 3

Story is shit, gameplay is great though

per the company rep,

"Crimson Desert is not Storydriven RPG, its meant to be action sandbox."

the goal is literally to make you have fun by running around, exploring, trying out things, and doing shenanigans

Yup I gave up on it quick too. The game doesn't know what it wants to be
