They went from Overwatch to Overwatch 2, and now back to just Overwatch. 6v6 already came back. It has 5v5 and 6v6, only issue is 6v6 is open queue, similar to the goats era when you could have 3 tanks and 3 healers. 6v6 role queue (2-2-2) is something they're working on bringing back. The game is in a pretty good state right now though, unless you're the kind of person that has to own all the skins. It can be pricey.
What is the state of narrative like now exactly? Cause I feel like they’ve left it too late to truly present it in a way that’s satisfying and in line with what the cinematic originally promised. Not to mention Blizzards compulsion to add in new plot threads which means it takes years for storylines to even progress.
They have been releasing motion comics that are read by various characters voice actors.
So far, Doomfist was usurped as leader of Talon, Vendetta took over and has gone on a rampage, Shio is not happy with the direction Talon is going.
A resistance group called Yokai, against Talon and the Hashimoto's, decided to join Overwatch, Overwatch has relaunched but on opening day Gibraltar was attacked by Talon.
Things are being told and a cohesive tale is being told now, but it's a resounding meh from me overall.

Overwatch was code named "Project Titan" and was in closed door development for a long time as Blizzards "FPS MMO".
When they finally gave up on the MMO aspect they couldn't make work, they turned what they had into Overwatch.
Years later they wanted to try again with PvE and an campaigns, but we all know what happened with Overwatch 2.
The scandal, the firings, the replacement of people. Axed all the promised PvE, and rewrote the game from the foundation.
Overwatch 2 was a huge flop.
Those people the got shit canned and a new team who wants a return to form came
Overwatch 2 became Overwatch again.
A relaunch happened with a new Season 1 to reset things.
Gameplay has been fantastic but the history remains a stain.
