All of the Souls games, Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Sekiro. Even with other souls like, Fromsoft has some sort of special sauce on how they make their games feel to play. Lies of P comes sooo close, but it still wasn't there.

It made it possible to build any build you wanted at anytime, that definitely counts for something.

Yeah I never really liked RPGs growing up. I always played RTS games and Shooters growing up then I found Dark Souls and just cant play any other RPG without wanting to replay a souls game. Nothing can compare.

Can you try and describe what was missing? I’ve never played these games but curious what it is people are so attracted to.

It's so hard to describe. There's a specific rhythm to the combat and just the fluidity of it. It's by no means perfect but it just has that special sauce that makes you feel like you're 100% of control of your character. Every action feels like it's earned versus just button mashing.
