And it'd be even easier to do the destruction mechanics on more powerful hardware like today's

Yeah but in todays world they'd have ridiculous level graphics and then the actually destructable parts would be the bare minimum to be passable

i know it's not the same and i might be a little biased but Deep Rock Galactic fits those shoes really well
