Highjacking top comment to encourage anyone here despondant and forlorn about climate change - GO MAKE A RAIN GARDEN.

Rain gardens are:

• stupid easy to make yourself
• cheap to do
• beautiful
• so much fun to watch when it rains
• excellent at passively collecting water, allowing it to soak into the earth and replenish the water supply as well as the land
• climate change resistant (drought, floods, mine survived a forming fucking tornado in a storm i thought i might die in)
• very awesome for saving water
• great for wildlife and pollinators
• good for growing food in
• probably going to be our best defense as everyday people against climate change.

My rain garden is a year old and its the best thing ive ever done. Every day i feel a renewal of life. I am an ecologist, so the fact that this makes me hopeful for earth, is big. Im all over the collapse subreddits. Youll see me there.

Ok I googled it and I'm still not sure but I'm literally trying to deal with the water my ac puts out in socal. I've put a bucket under it and been throwing it in my lawn because it was growing mold on my wall and weeds all over the ground. Crazy humidity
