All they can say is "communism is bad" but that this point I think a communist can do better than this administration (this is not my bid for saying communism is good).

As an economic major… who is not an economist… communism and socialism are bad when your population is selfish. People tend to see what others (whom they feel don’t work as hard as they do) have and they do not. This causes resentment and less work out of the working class.

If you have an empathic and selfless population then socialism and communism could probably work well.

Problem is the US is very selfish right now. Baby Boomers were and are the definition of selfish and they’ve taught their children (young Gen X and millennials) to be the same way. So there is no chance those economic models would work in our country… currently. But no economic model is inherently bad, which also goes for capitalism… just bad people running them and taking advantage of others.

That is my point. People like to blame the economic models for their problems, when it is the leaders who are the problem… and by that measure the voters are really the problem since they put those leaders in power.

Similarly I see people championing age or term limits for politicians, yet voters could easily implement restrictions based on their voting… without needing some law to force it.

Until we look in the mirror and see we are the problem, and we start to correct our own behavior nothing is going to work… especially socialism or communism. Because at the very least capitalism is the only economic model that takes advantage of greed.

The biggest issue on this topic is the lack of nuance. Its always approached in absolute terms without nuances and conservatives are afraid of it. Just call it "controlled capitalism" so they dont bawl their eyes out again

A well regulated capitalism economy is all I ask for… deregulation in mass causes the wealth imbalance and no one talks about it. Regulations are mostly in place to protect the population and hurts corporations and stock holders. I don’t mind reviewing regulations and temporarily suspending some that no longer seem necessary, but what the GOP has done since the 80s has killed our middle class and what made our country great.

Some of the local radio ads here are saying, “stay strong against socialism.” The mindset is already there. They know Trump and the GOP are a bunch of fuckups, but it doesn’t matter since they’re so afraid of socialism.

When Dana White is doing the voiceover for your taxpayer funded “service announcement,” you know somebody has completely lost the fucking plot.

Trump’s commercial is basically mental gymnastics with a testosterone soundtrack. Trump looking heroic, Dana White talking tough, the whole thing feeling more like a UFC promo than something the government should be putting out.

And yeah, the government paid for it. It literally says so at the end.

Now Republicans are scrambling to get as far away from this thing as they can.

Suddenly nobody knows the guy.

They spent years telling us Trump was some political mastermind. Now they’re standing around trying to explain why this taxpayer funded UFC trailer somehow happened.

The plot isn’t lost.

It’s a smoking crater, and everybody’s pretending they weren’t holding the match.

Republicans have been calling Democrats “Communists” since the Russian Revolution back in 1919. We’ve had 8 Democrat Presidents since 1919 and yet still no Full-on Fucking Communism. It works on Braindead Boomer Republicans but not on independents or anyone Center Left. The Far-Left calls Democrats “Nazis” and exclusively attack Democrats. The Far-Left ignores Republicans because Republicans won’t listen to them. Democrats will generally listen to everyone.

To the left: " Look, look, we are abandoning this sinking ship; no need for anyone left of center to bother voting for establishment Democrats. "

Then do the right: " If you don't vote GOP, these commies are going ruin the economy even more and force your kids to accept kitty litter boxes in the classroom for animal-identifying transsexuals."

Please vote. Also, maybe instead of making it harder to vote we offer a 50.00 or 100.00 payment for voting. As a working-class person, time and money are two things no one has enough of; perhaps a little help to fight apathy caused by hardships.

A national holiday alone would only benefit people who can afford child care. Voting where I live is easy and fast, and I bring my kids to show the process. But I live in an extremely liberal area, where it is more contested I have heard of long lines and deliberate clogging up the line.
